Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

 Kenneth's POV

I hadn't expected Bianca to accept the offer to live together. I at first thought it was a stupid idea. But I needed to keep her safe and within reach, somewhere, where I could protect her anytime, somewhere I was sure she was always safe.

And she saw it. The reason. And she accepted.

I returned to her place the next day. And before I could knock, the door slowly opened and Bianca stood behind it with a sad expression on her face. One you would expect anyone to have in this situation.

I put up a warm smile on my face and that seemed to lighten her mood slightly. "Thanks for agreeing to do this." I said trying to lighten up her mood more. She replied with a hum and looked back into the house. Like she was taking a mental note of anything she could have forgotten or anything she didn't want to forget.

She had only two boxes out, she clearly didn't take much from the house. She rolled them out andI helped her with the two boxes and placed them in the car.

I watched her slowly exhale and walked to the car. I went in, out on the engine and drove.

Everything was slowly falling into place.

Bianca was now under my roof, my family had seen her, and my grandfather had sped up the engagement dinner plans. On paper, my plan was absolute. Like nothing would stop it now. Like it was a full proof plan.

I had the perfect woman. The perfect lie. And so far, she was holding her end of the bargain like she was born and ready for this.

But no matter how full proof a plan was, fate always had its own way. And I wasn't ignorant of that.

It didn't take long before I noticed it. The whispers. The side glances. The slight hesitation in their voice when my brothers spoke about Bianca, like they were waiting for her to slip, waiting for me to prove I wasn't really in love. Waiting to prove that it was all a lie. They still didn't believe I fell in love.

I knew Kelvin, especially Kelvin, wouldn't let it go that easily.

He never did.

We decided it was time to head straight into our room, Bianca looked like she had something to say, something almost amusing to her. "What is it?" I asked her as I walked closer to her. "How do we sleep?" She asked, throwing her gaze somewhere else, "of course on the bed." She turned sharply to look at me, "we aren't married, we don't have to fake anything in the room, besides your family wasn't going to just walk into the room." She said, her voice low and steady. "The Contract says you have to follow through." At the mention of the contract she rolled her eyes.

We were still headed toward the east wing, the wing where our room was. And just as we turned towards the door I caught movement out the corner of my eye. Two figures. I thought they were our shadows at first, but I didn't need to confirm again. I just knew.

My brothers were following us.

Of course they were. They used every opportunity to spy on us. To catch us right on the spot we weren't lovers. They spied on us like it was their secret mission.

I didn't say anything. I didn't even alert Bianca. She was already walking a bit ahead of me, her steps were slow and delayed. Maybe she felt their eyes, or maybe she was just adjusting to the thought of us sharing a room.

When she reached the door, she stopped and reached for the handle.

And that's when I acted.

I didn't think.

I just moved.

I held her wrist just before she touched the knob, I spinned her and she hit the door with her back lightly. She didn't know how to react, she didn't know where this was coming from, she just stared at me, confusion taking over her expression.

"Kenneth?" she muttered.

I didn't answer her call.

Instead, I leaned in, one of my hands placed on the door behind her head to give me perfect balance, the other finding her waist. Our faces were just inches apart. Her lips parted and then were closed shut and then parted again. She was stunned, probably thinking I had lost my mind.

And then without any further warning I kissed her.

Not a just kiss or peck on would do when he was at an event.

It was a real one, a heated one, a deep one.

Her body stiffened a bit at first, clearly not expecting any of this. But when my lips moved against hers with a slow, deliberate rhythm, something in her posture shifted. She kissed me back. She made it feel more legit.

She didn't push me away.

She didn't stop me.

Her hands that had been caught between us slowly rose to my chest and gripped my shirt. My lips teased her lips, devoured hers, until her body finally melted into mine like we had done this a thousand times.

It was supposed to be a performance.

But it didn't feel so. It felt real. Anyone watching would think this was straight out of a romance movie.

Something about the warmth of her body made me forget the script in my mind and just continued kissing her. My mind was a fog, but my body knew exactly what it wanted.

I heard the faintest gasp behind us.

Good.

Let them watch.

Let them see.

I opened the door with my free hand, still not breaking the kiss. Bianca stumbled back in the room, a step as I guided her into the room, our lips were still locked. She still didn't protest. She didn't question. She just followed suit.

And when I finally kicked the door closed behind us, I knew without a doubt,

They were convinced.
