Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The Weight of What Was Unsaid

~Becklan's POV~

The reality hit me with a bitter, icy clarity. I was nothing more than a temporary distraction, an "ugly, bone-bodied" maid who was easily discarded when the real guest arrived.

I turned away, my head held as high as I could manage while my insides were crumbling. I walked back to my room, the silence of the hallway feeling like a heavy shroud. 

The moment I slammed the door shut, the weight of the rejection hit me. I was being tossed out like trash to make room for Theo. My hands trembled as I reached for my phone; the only person I could think of was Frank. He had told me to reach out if I ever needed help, and for the first time in my life, I had absolutely no other choice.

I fished his business card out of my bag and dialed the number. He answered on the second ring.

"Hello, Mr. Frank?" I murmured, my voice thick with suppressed emotion as I identified myself.

"Hey, Becklan," he said, his tone warming instantly. "How are you doing?"
