The phone flashed all kinds of images and contents. It had a passcode but that flimsy security was nothing in front of the power of a Warlock.
In a matter of minutes, Mater learned everything he needed to know about the 21st century.
He also learned the languages of this world. There were many kinds but he only chose the language of the country he was in.
Mater didn't have that much magic to waste.
The cat lifted its paw away from the phone screen. Selina's phone returned to normal.
"Interesting. In this world, there are no alchemists, no witch hunters, no supernatural beasts,... No warlocks as well.
These terms existed but only as myths and fiction.
However, something else exists."
Mater left the bathroom and approached the book on the table again. With his newfound knowledge, he was able to decipher the cause of the Chaos within this book.
The cat placed its paw on the book again, slowly channeling magic into it. A faint red line extended from the book and went outside. It was leading to the wraith that was connected to this book.
"Wraith is one of the species of Specters. If I remember correctly, those Alchemists researched intensively about Wraith and have an entire chapter dedicated to it in the Alchemy Compendium.
But wraiths are low-level creatures. None of them was able to reach even the third rank of enlightenment."
In Mater's old world, supernatural beings roamed the land. All supernatural beings were separated into four ranks of power.
There was also a rank 0 that referred to the ordinary human and natural beings, but no one considered them as a real rank.
Chaos Infusion belonged to rank one of the supernatural levels. Once Mater converted all his blood vessels, he would reach the second rank, which was considered the average in his world.
The third rank was rarer but there were a lot of beings in third rank around the world. Only a few were able to reach the fourth rank.
Mater and the witch hunter that helped him escape were all fourth rank beings.
What Mater found through the internet was that ghosts were real in this world and they usually became a hostile creature that would wreak havoc to society.
All those video clips and posts drifting in the web about urban myths and ghosts. Everything was real and it was an actual issue that this world was struggling with.
However, the authorities of this world had done a great job to keep everything a secret so to the everyday people, this was a harmless modern world with technological advancement.
"Wraith is a natural occurrence. But the wraiths in this world have somehow found a way to create and use Chaos to their benefits, allowing them to grow stronger than they could ever be." Mater thought. "Wraith isn't the right term. These spirits should be called Chaos Wraiths as they channel their power from Chaos.
I have found my targets to harvest the Chaos Stones. Coincidentally, this young woman here is a paranormal investigator.
The perfect representative for the dark lord like me."
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!"
Selina wrapped a towel around her and exited the bathroom. She went out just in time to see the cat laughing hideously by itself.
"I don't even know that a cat can laugh like that." Selina's brow furrowed even further.
She approached the cat once more. Her wet skin shimmered in the night.
"What are you planning, you evil cat?" Selina jokingly said. "You're not going to kill me in my sleep, are you?"
The cat lifted his head up and showed its smugness.
"Killing a pretty thing like you is a waste, my dear." The cat meowed.
"Well, at least you are cute." Selina reached her hand forward to try and pet the cat again. Mater hissed at her just like last time.
He jumped off the table and ran to her bedroom. He got himself comfortable in bed and lay down.
"Ah... The sweet smell of a woman."
The cat purred in her bed.
Selina followed Mater to her bedroom and chuckled when she saw Mater stretched his elongated black body. She crawled onto the bed with him and hugged him from behind.
Mater was incredibly soft. The kind of softness that would melt any girl's heart. But in the end, he was still a street cat.
"You stink, kitty!" Selina said.
Mater lifted his front legs up and smelled his armpit. She wasn't wrong. He meowed at her and intentionally walked to the bathroom.
His action caused her to laugh non-stop. "You really understand what I'm saying! What a smart kitty!"
Before Mater could react, Selina lifted him up from behind.
"What are you doing, woman?" The cat hissed at her.
"Now. Now. You have to be good. I will bathe you."
"Meow?"
The towel on Selina dropped as she dragged him to the bathroom.
"Noooooooooooooooooo! I will not be defiled by you, woman!
I will not yield!"
He yielded. Selina's hands felt too good to resist. She bathed him well and covered him in sweet aromatic soap.
He was not happy about it. But he couldn't lie to himself either. She was a very good masseur. Up until her hands went to his buttocks and the space in between.
"Stop, woman! You cannot do this!" The cat meowed again.
"Shush. You have to be a good kitty. It is dirty down there!"
Many and many more 'tortures' Mater had to go through. He kept telling himself that he was not happy about it.
Yes, Mater was definitely unhappy. So unhappy that he let her do everything she liked.
After half an hour, Mater was as wet as a sewer rat as Selina was blowing him with the hair dryer.
"I can't believe it. My dignity. My honor. You destroy it all, woman."
The cat meowed. His expression was a mix between bitterness and smugness. It might be terrifying if that expression was on a human. But on a cat, it only made Selina chuckle as she found him extra adorable.
"You are such an expressive kitty. You know, there was a saying that a black cat like you can see spirits of the dead. I'm trying to investigate a spirit, you know. Maybe finding out why it is haunting that house and what happened to the client's brother."
Mater suddenly stood up with his two front legs raised.
"Huh?" Selina widened her eyes as Mater put his fluffy paws on her cheeks.
She swore to god that the black cat just nodded.
