Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

November 6th, 1983

(Third Person POV)

Nathan sat in the passenger seat of the car while Steve drove to school, rambling about some girl in his class. Steve didn't seem to notice that Nathan had stopped listening; Nathan was staring out the window, lost in thought, thinking back to that day in the woods four years ago. Before he knew it, Steve was pulling into the high school parking lot.

Nathan unbuckled his seatbelt and climbed out of the car. He took out his Walkman as he headed for the school entrance, but before he could turn it on, someone called his name.

"Nathan!" He turned to see Dustin, a kid from the year below.

"What do you need?" Nathan asked.

"Is Will already inside?" Dustin opened his mouth, but his friend Mike cut in before he could answer.

"How would I know? I just got here," Nathan muttered. He slid his headphones on and turned on his Walkman as he walked into the school building.

Nathan walked down the hallway without a care, somehow dodging every student rushing past him. A tap on his shoulder made him turn. Behind him stood a tall, cute girl with light brown hair and blue eyes she looked like she might be Steve's age.

"Yes?" Nathan said, sliding his headphones down around his neck.

"Oh, sorry," the girl said, fiddling with her thumbs. "Can I ask what you're listening to?"

"Michael Jackson," Nathan replied. "Why?"

Before she could answer, the bell rang and students began walking into their classrooms.

"I just… liked the sound of it," she said with a small smile. "And thanks for telling me. See you around. I'm Robin, by the way."

Robin waved and headed off in the opposite direction. Nathan gave a nod before going to class.

(Nathan POV)

It was late probably around six or seven in the evening when I found myself walking through the woods again. I didn't even remember choosing the path; my feet just brought me here. My leg started to itch, and the memory of what happened tugged at the back of my mind.

A twig snapped behind me.

"Who's there?" I said, turning toward the sound. A girl with a shaved head stepped out from behind a tree.

"Why are you out here?" I asked, taking a cautious step forward as I notice she only has a top on in the pouring rain.

She opened her mouth like she was going to speak, but then we both heard shouting in the distance kids calling a name. As they got closer, I recognized Dustin's voice. They were calling for Will.

I turned, ready to leave, but the girl walked toward them instead. She stepped on a pile of leaves, the crunch echoing through the woods. Dustin and the others spun around, eyes wide as they spotted her and they see me standing just behind her.
