CHAPTER 7 — Night of Extinction (Age 5)
The attack came without warning.
A ripple — no, a tear — in the air opened above the Vareon estate, and out poured assassins, beasts, and something… unnatural.
The clan fought valiantly.
But the enemy wasn't trying to win.
They were trying to erase.
Arctus grabbed Kael by the shoulders. "Listen to me. You must live."
Kael struggled. "I can fight—"
"You are not ready!" Arctus roared — the only time he ever raised his voice at his son.
Kael froze.
His father pressed a glowing hand to his chest, sealing away part of Kael's memories and power.
"This will protect you. Hunt us later. Hunt everything."
Kael watched, screaming silently, as his father was consumed by an abyssal creature with eyes like collapsing stars.
His mother fell next.
His clan followed.
Kael — the last Vareon — fled into the night, the seal tightening around his heart.
His arrogance hardened into something colder.
Resolve.
