Chapter 157 - Chapter 157

On the last day of the term, the exam results were announced.

Draco's scores were exactly what he expected. Pansy's, however, surprised him.

"You've improved a lot," he said, studying her results thoughtfully.

Except for Transfiguration, her grades were generally good.

"Of course," Pansy lifted her chin proudly and gave a soft, satisfied snort.

Soon, the final feast began.

The scarlet and gold decorations of the Great Hall had been replaced with green ribbons and silver ornaments—simple, but elegant. Behind the High Table hung a large banner bearing Slytherin's serpent.

Draco's Special Contribution Award and Slytherin's Quidditch victory had already secured the House Cup.

However, the atmosphere was far from friendly. Only the Slytherins were celebrating openly. Lupin's departure had left many students resentful, and much of that resentment was directed at Slytherin.

"I heard he's getting a Special Contribution Award," Ron muttered angrily, kicking his stool. "He forced Professor Lupin to leave. They should deduct five hundred points from him!"

Hermione sighed and shook her head at his childish reaction.

---

Dumbledore rose and looked around the hall.

"This year has not been a peaceful one for Hogwarts," he began calmly. "Two teachers were unable to complete the year for various reasons…"

Many students from the other houses glared openly at Draco.

Dumbledore continued,

"We also trusted the lies of a traitor and nearly honored the wrong man. The true victim almost paid a terrible price. This was my failure, and for that, I apologize."

He bowed deeply.

A murmur spread through the hall. Most students didn't think the apology was necessary—the mistake had come from the Ministry.

"But this incident teaches us something important," Dumbledore said, his voice firm. "Hogwarts is not absolutely safe. Those with ill intent may find opportunities. Therefore, next year you will face a more rigorous curriculum. I have already invited an experienced wizard to teach here."

Ron and Harry both sighed with relief.

"That means it's not Snape," Ron whispered.

From the teachers' table, Snape's dark eyes flickered coldly in their direction.

---

Dumbledore spoke again.

"This year, one student will receive the Special Contribution Award. Draco Malfoy. He resisted the Imperius Curse and assisted the Aurors in their operation."

His blue eyes met Draco's, and he gave a meaningful smile.

Draco stood, nodded briefly, and sat down without saying a word.

The applause was scattered. Slytherin clapped enthusiastically; the other houses barely responded.

Beside him, Pansy applauded with all her strength, her face bright with pride.

After several routine announcements, Dumbledore concluded:

"I now declare this school year officially ended. I hope you all enjoy your holidays."

The semester had come to an end.

Soon, the students would board the Hogwarts Express and return home.
