Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Food and Life

"Wow, the food Shirou makes is so good!"

Zenith took a bite of the fried rice Shirou made. The blonde woman showed an incredibly happy expression, as if she had never enjoyed such delicious food before.

If this were an anime, it might even add some scenes of clothes bursting off to describe the shock felt by the person eating the food.

"Munch munch!"

Although Rudeus was only a half-year-old baby, he could already eat some ordinary food because babies can eat these kinds of foods after about six months. Also, this child was different from the start, so after tasting a bite of the fried rice Shirou made, he was like someone who was bewitched, constantly stuffing the fried rice into his mouth.

As he ate, a strange light flashed in the corners of his eyes, as if he were recalling some distant past…

"Young Master Shirou… I'm sorry for overestimating myself before, wanting to teach you how to cook."

Lilia lowered her head in shame. After eating a bite of the fried rice Shirou made, she was completely won over by this boy's cooking skills.

Although she could make fried rice herself, compared to Shirou's cooking, what she made was just tasteless and not worth eating, only something that could be called food.

In contrast, Shirou's cooking seemed to contain the soul of the cook, something that could only be created by incorporating some higher-level concept into the cooking.

When Lilia ate the fried rice Shirou made, she even instinctively recalled her childhood when she was training with swords at the dojo at home.

Compared to her later life, those days were so pure and happy. There was no need to consider the troubles of adults, or to think about her future life, just constantly living an ordinary life, constantly practicing swords, practicing swords, and then lying in the yard to rest in her spare time, watching people come and go in the dojo…

Thinking of this, Lilia couldn't help but shed tears. In her heart, there was not only emotion about the food, but also the feeling of being touched by the emotions contained in the food.

"Oh, it's not that amazing…"

Shirou didn't expect that he was just making a plate of fried rice, but it made everyone present have different feelings. This was completely beyond his expectations.

Although the food he used to make was delicious, it was definitely not this magical.

Yes, Shirou felt that his cooking could be called magical. Ordinary food could never trigger this level of emotional response.

Is this because of you, Servant Emiya…?

Shirou clenched his fist. He was almost certain that his cooking had such special power because Servant Emiya had merged with him.

Compared to himself as a human, Servant Emiya, whether in terms of position or experience, was far beyond his imagination. The person who had merged with the other's soul, even simple behaviors, possessed talents and influence that ordinary people could not have.

He didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing, but it made Shirou even more aware of the fact that he was very different from ordinary people.

The Greyrat family members happily enjoyed the fried rice Shirou made, and in the end, they were so enthusiastic that they didn't even leave a grain of rice.

Shirou instinctively wanted to take the dishes to clean up, but Lilia took the opportunity.

After Shirou made such amazing food, Lilia, as a maid, felt a deep sense of crisis. Naturally, she would not let Shirou interfere with the maid's work any more, and let him stay in the living room to rest.

"Ah, Shirou's food is so delicious." Paul muttered to himself excitedly, holding his stomach. "It's the first time I've ever had such emotional food. Seriously, if I weren't afraid of being embarrassed, I would almost cry."

"Yes, because you remembered your first love."

"Uh…"

Hearing Zenith's words, said in a subtle tone full of terrifying atmosphere, the smile on Paul's face immediately froze, turning into a stiff expression.

He instinctively wanted to run away immediately, but Zenith ruthlessly grabbed him.

A clear coldness appeared on the woman's face, and she scoffed, "About your first love? Paul, do you think this needs to be explained to me?!"

You could clearly feel the coldness in Zenith's tone.

Paul panicked on the spot and broke out in a cold sweat.

As a wife, Zenith was gentle, but she was not unconditionally obedient. On the contrary, she had a higher status within the family.

"Oh…"

Paul awkwardly scratched his head. He didn't expect that he would accidentally reveal something because of Shirou's cooking, and he immediately showed a painful expression.

He was then forcibly dragged back to the room by Zenith, and who knows what kind of questioning he would have to endure.

In the living room, Shirou smiled wryly at the arguing couple, but he didn't care. After all, this couple would occasionally argue, it wasn't a big deal, and they would make up in the end anyway.

So he turned his attention to his younger brother, Rudeus, beside him.

Just now, when Rudeus was eating, he showed some complicated emotions, which ordinary people didn't notice, but naturally couldn't escape Shirou's eyes.

A long time ago, Shirou had been guessing that Rudeus might not be an ordinary child.

Compared to a child, he was more like someone like himself, who was forced to become a child again.

However, Shirou didn't feel the calmness and belief that adults have from Rudeus. Instead, he was in some state between a child and an adult.

Shirou had also been in this state before, living his life in a daze, not knowing how to fulfill his ideal of becoming an ally of justice.

However, after fighting with the Ainsworth family to protect his younger sister Miyu, and even sacrificing the salvation of the entire world to kill all the Servants, Shirou had changed. He had grown through the painful process and become a mature person.

Shirou didn't know what kind of person Rudeus was in the past, but he could sense that Rudeus was still in a state of not having grown up, not being mature yet. His spirit, like his body, was still ignorant, unable to understand the meaning and value of life.

In that case, he wouldn't care about Rudeus's past, but would treat him as a younger brother to take care of.

Of course, despite saying that he would take care of Rudeus, the other party's fear of him hadn't changed at all.

Looking at the obvious confusion and timidity in the baby's eyes when he approached, Shirou sighed silently, realizing that improving their brotherly relationship still had a long way to go.

However, perhaps because of the influence of the cooking just now, Rudeus's fear of him was obviously less, replaced by a sense of respect and awe.

Although there was still a clear gap between them, this could be considered progress, probably…
