The 1st Elder knelt before the divine tree. Befitting a tree with legends of living since the world's beginning, the trunk's width was so vast the sides weren't visible. The saying that its roots touched the world's core seemed hardly wrong.

"Yes. Distant descendant of Rainweld, Erensere. Currently serving as 1st Elder in the forest."
The divine tree extended a thin branch to stroke the 1st Elder—Erensere's hair. Having lived too long, and having buried too many elves in its body, the divine tree needed quite some time to retrieve memories.
