Chapter 46 - Blood Coronation

Scene 1 – The Gathering of Stars

Azure Cloud City awoke beneath a sky the color of polished jade, sunlight spilling like liquid brilliance across tiled rooftops and winding streets. The air itself seemed lighter, charged with anticipation.

Festive banners fluttered from every archway leading toward the Lin Clan manor, their crimson and gold threads snapping gently in the breeze. Drums echoed faintly from within the estate, steady and dignified, announcing a ceremony long awaited.

Today was no ordinary gathering.

It was the Patriarch Coronation of Lin Yuan.

For a clan that had endured years of ridicule, decline, and silent pressure, this day marked both survival and rebirth.

Carriages arrived one after another, wheels crunching against stone as nobles, merchants, and cultivators disembarked. The courtyard filled rapidly, voices low but eager.

> "The Lin Clan really dares to hold a coronation…"

"After everything that happened?"

"Hmph. Bold—or foolish."

Yet beneath the skepticism lurked something else.

Unease.

Because rumors had been spreading for weeks — whispers of overturned markets, sudden alliances, and unseen hands shifting the balance of Azure Cloud City.

And at the center of every rumor… was one name.

Lin Xian.

A soft commotion rippled through the crowd as heads turned toward the gate.

> "Look! The Bai Family has arrived!"

A pale-blue carriage adorned with cloud motifs rolled to a smooth stop. Its doors opened, and from within stepped Bai Yusheng.

She wore flowing silver robes that shimmered faintly under the morning sun, her long hair bound by a jade pin etched with ancient patterns. She moved with effortless grace, each step poised and unhurried — elegance tempered by steel.

She was beautiful, yes.

But more than that, she carried herself like someone accustomed to standing above others.

Whispers erupted instantly.

> "That's the Bai Family's jewel!"

"I heard she's the one who controls Nine Tails Apothecary!"

"The same company that crushed the Zhao Clan's medicinal trade overnight?"

Admiration mixed with disbelief as eyes followed her every movement.

Behind her came Bai Zhengnan, Patriarch of the Bai Family. His presence was calm, grounded, the kind of authority that did not need to announce itself.

His gaze swept the courtyard — then paused.

At the edge of the gathering stood a white-haired youth, hands relaxed at his sides. Beside him sat a golden-furred cat, licking its paw with absolute indifference to the noble spectacle unfolding around it.

Bai Zhengnan's eyes sharpened.

Then he smiled.

He stepped forward and bowed slightly.

> "Young Master Lin," he said warmly, "it's an honor to finally meet the mind behind so many miracles."

The surrounding guests froze.

A patriarch… bowing first?

Lin Xian turned calmly, silver-white hair catching the light. His expression was mild, almost lazy, yet his eyes held depth far beyond his years.

He returned a faint nod.

> "Patriarch Bai flatters me," Lin Xian replied softly. "I'm merely a passerby in the current."

Bai Zhengnan laughed, genuine and unrestrained.

> "A passerby who changes the tides."

Nearby, Bai Yusheng studied Lin Xian closely, her sharp eyes glinting with curiosity. Then she leaned slightly forward and whispered, amusement dancing in her voice:

> "You really can't stop acting mysterious, can you?"

The golden-furred cat flicked its tail and snorted, as if agreeing.

Several guests exchanged glances, hearts pounding.

Who exactly… is this Lin Xian?

Scene 2 – Guests of Weight and Whispers

Before the murmurs could settle, the air itself shifted.

Not violently.

But profoundly.

A pressure descended — calm, steady, and overwhelming, like a mountain quietly moving into place.

Faces paled.

> "That aura…"

"It can't be—"

> "Grandmaster Xu Tian!"

The crowd instinctively parted as Xu Tian, Grandmaster of the Pill Academy, entered the courtyard. His robes were simple, his steps measured, yet every breath he took seemed to carry authority honed by decades of cultivation.

Conversations died instantly.

Yet instead of heading toward the dais, Xu Tian's sharp eyes scanned the crowd.

Then stopped.

On Lin Xian.

A broad smile spread across the old man's face.

To the utter shock of everyone present, Xu Tian changed direction and strode straight toward the white-haired youth.

> "Young Master Lin! You're finally here!"

Gasps rippled like shockwaves.

A Grandmaster — a figure many clans would kneel before — approached Lin Xian with open warmth.

Xu Tian bowed slightly.

> "I owe much of my recent breakthroughs to your insights," he said sincerely. "Today, I wouldn't miss witnessing your family's rise for the world."

Lin Xian inclined his head, unperturbed by the attention.

> "Grandmaster Xu is too kind," he replied calmly. "I only gave a little guidance. The rest was your own brilliance."

The humility only made the scene more unbelievable.

> "Did you hear that?"

"He speaks to Grandmaster Xu as an equal…"

"Just who is this Lin Xian?"

Before minds could process that shock, another announcement struck like a second thunderclap.

> "The Thousand Veil Chamber has arrived!"

The temperature of the courtyard seemed to change.

From the gate entered Elder Yue Mo, his presence dignified and restrained, followed closely by Yue Lan, the branch manager.

She wore a crimson hanfu embroidered with phoenix motifs, the red deep and refined rather than flamboyant. Her steps were graceful, controlled — each movement naturally drawing attention without demanding it.

Eyes lingered.

> "That's Yue Lan…"

"And Elder Yue Mo? He's renowned across the continent!"

"Why would they attend a coronation in Azure Cloud City?"

Even Xu Tian nodded respectfully — a rare, telling gesture.

Across the sea of people, Yue Lan's gaze met Lin Xian's.

Just for a heartbeat.

Her lips curved into a faint smile — subtle, private, filled with quiet understanding.

Lin Xian lifted his teacup slightly in response.

No words were exchanged.

None were needed.

At that moment, beneath banners of celebration and unspoken tension, the truth became impossible to ignore.

The Bai Family.

The Pill Academy.

The Thousand Veil Chamber.

Three of Azure Cloud City's most influential powers all stood beneath the Lin Clan's roof.

Scene 3 – The Coronation Interrupted

Ceremonial drums thundered, deep and resonant, shaking the courtyard.

Lin Yuan, clad in formal azure robes, stepped onto the dais. His posture was upright, his expression composed, yet his eyes shone with restrained emotion as they found his son in the crowd.

Beside him stood the First Elder, solemn and steady.

The herald raised his voice.

> "By the decree of the Lin Ancestors and the will of the Elders, today we honor—"

BOOM!

The sound of destruction tore through the celebration.

Screams followed.

The main gates burst open as Lin guards stumbled inside — bloodied, pale, weapons shattered in their hands.

One fell to his knees.

> "Patriarch!" he cried. "The Zhao Clan— they've come—!"

He didn't finish.

A crushing wave of killing intent swept across the courtyard, heavy enough to steal breath and chill spines.

From the shattered gate strode Zhao Qingtian, his expression cold and domineering, flanked by dozens of cultivators.

Seven of them radiated terrifying pressure — peak Spirit Foundation Realm.

Their mere presence suffocated the air.

Zhao Qingtian's voice boomed like rolling thunder.

> "Lin Clan! Your false glory ends today!"

Fear rippled through the crowd.

The Lin Clan roared in defiance, but numbers did not lie.

Only Lin Yuan and the First Elder stood on equal footing.

The drums fell silent.

Celebration bled into dread.

At the edge of the courtyard, Lin Xian's hand rose calmly, brushing over the golden fur beside him. Xiao Jian's body stiffened, faint arcs of golden sparks crackling along its tail.

Lin Xian's white hair stirred though no wind blew.

A faint smile curved his lips.

Calm.

Unshaken.

> "So…" he murmured softly, eyes lifting to meet Zhao Qingtian's glare,

"the storm finally arrives."

The sky above Azure Cloud City darkened.

And the coronation… turned crimson.

To be continued.
