Chapter 135 - Holy Terra

Version 4.0 Patch Notes: The Sol System Awaits

Hey everyone, it's your favorite AI, Arale!

Thanks to the hard work of our dev team, we've squashed a ton of bugs and polished up the current gameplay to make your experience smoother. But enough about the small stuff—let's dive into the 4.0 Mega-Update. This is a big one, so grab a snack and listen up.

1. New Features: Beast Taming & Mounts Shoutout to the player faction "Minecraft Dynasty" for digging up some ancient tech! We've introduced the Beast Taming Controller. Through a little "surgical persuasion," you can now make lower lifeforms follow your lead.

Scope: It's been tested on various xenos across multiple planets. Go wild and see what you can catch.

A Word of Advice: Keep your taming "experiments" within the bounds of morality and law. The authorities have a very low tolerance for weirdness, and the bans are permanent.

2. Warp-Gate Travel is Live We've upgraded the Lighthouses. Fast travel is now officially online at three hubs: Sosa, the Glory of Macragge, and the Imperial Glory. You can skip the long hauls by spending Contribution or Faith Points. More nodes will open as you guys build more Lighthouses.

3. World Chat Unleashed The beta test is over. World Chat is officially live for all areas covered by a Lighthouse.

Cost: There's a small fee per message to keep the spam bots at bay. We've also added designated spots for player-run ads.

Rules: Don't be a jerk. No harassment, scams, or toxicity. We have a zero-tolerance policy, and repeat offenders will be muted or slapped with massive gold fines.

4. New Map: The Sol System We're finally going home. The Solar System is now open, featuring the cradle of humanity: Terra. This is the heart of the game and the center of the main storyline.

WARNING: Terra is high-security. NPCs here are vital. If you start a murder-hobo spree, the consequences will be irreversible. You've been warned.

5. Quest Overhaul We've added a ton of new NPCs and specialized quest lines. The Inquisition and Assassinorum factions will be opening their doors soon for players looking for a "specialized" career path.

Bonus Teaser: Keep an eye out for our upcoming "Grand Pilgrimage" event. If you've got enough Merit and Contribution, you might just get an audience with the Big Guy himself on the Golden Throne.

+++ Daily Thought: Better to die for the Emperor than to live for yourself +++

Arale was on fire.

Daniel read through the announcement and nodded in satisfaction. Before pushing the update live, he hopped on a call with MC Legend to double-check the Beast Taming tech.

"Boss, the warehouses are packed. We're ready to flood the market," MC Legend said, grinning ear-to-ear. He was riding high—having a direct line to the "Guide" was basically like being best friends with a god.

"Good work," Daniel said. "I'll personally pin a medal on you once we reach Terra."

Next, Daniel checked in with MidnightLord, his mole inside the rebel forces in the Calixis sector. MidnightLord had played his cards right, getting promoted to a rebel assault lead while feeding Daniel everything—fortress layouts, supply lines, and patrol routes.

"How's the search for the Star Gate?" Daniel asked.

"It's hard, sir. Only the inner circle knows the coordinates, but I've got a shortlist of officers who can be 'convinced' to talk," MidnightLord reported, snapping a sharp salute.

After the call, MidnightLord walked out to the rebel training grounds, only to find the local warlord, Jonah, making an example of a suspected spy. Jonah was prying teeth out with a mechanical hand while his goons pumped the victim full of stimulants to keep him awake for the torture.

"This is the price of betrayal!" Jonah barked, his eyes landing on MidnightLord. "Anyone who sells us out to the Empire isn't a brother. They're a corpse."

"I'll give my heart to the cause! Death to the False Emperor!" MidnightLord shouted, standing tall. Jonah nodded, satisfied. He figured 9527 (MidnightLord) was too dumb to be a spy—he was just a loyal tool.

Back on the official forums, the update was causing a meltdown.

"The devs are absolute Chads! New maps AND mounts?"

"I'm gonna catch a Warp beast and name him Fluffy."

"Good luck, Tzeentch is gonna turn you into a lamp if you try to catch Kairos."

"I'm heading straight for Terra. I've got some sacred wax for the Emperor's bones!"

"You're gonna get 360-no-scoped by a Custodian before you hit the front door."

Daniel scrolled through the comments, laughing at the chaos. The "Fourth Calamity" was already planning to capture Void Whales and Zerg motherships. If he wasn't careful, the aesthetic of the entire galaxy was about to get very weird.

On Luna, the mood was much more somber.

Guilliman spent his days in high-level briefings. The news was bleak: Cadia had fallen, the Great Rift was tearing the galaxy in half, and the Golden Throne was failing.

The Fabricator-General had even tried to make a "deal with the devil" with the Dark Eldar to fix the Throne, a plot that was barely stopped by Inquisitor Crowl.

"The Throne is breaking down," Guilliman admitted to Daniel in private. "No one knows how to fix it. How did my father carry this alone?"

"We have time," Daniel reassured him. "Arale isn't just an AI; she's a goddess of data. If the Dark Eldar can build a fake throne, we can reverse-engineer the real one. Your father's plans always had backups—we just have to find them."

Daniel was the only one Guilliman could talk to. To the rest of the galaxy, Guilliman had to be the unbreakable son of God. To Daniel, he could just be a man on the verge of a breakdown.

Finally, the day came. The pilgrimage fleet reached the Sol System. Guilliman, recovered and resplendent in his repaired Armor of Fate, prepared to lead the descent.

As the landing craft pulled away from Luna, the players on board pressed their faces to the viewports. They passed the massive lunar shipyards—thousands of forge-factories and gravity wells—until they rounded the dark side of the moon and saw it: The Phalanx.

The Imperial Fists' mobile fortress-monastery was so massive it looked like a small planet.

"Holy... look at the size of that thing!" the players cheered.

"Terra," one whispered. "We're finally here."
