Chapter 5 - Slythara's Heart.

Kaldric POV.

I was glad when I received a call from Lexior early in the morning. Even though his message of him dying was extremely dramatic, I still found myself leaving her side without bothering to wake her up or leaving a note.

I needed a moment to think, and unfortunately, I couldn't do that in her presence.

When I arrived at Lexior's, the idiot was actually dying.

He had a deep wound on the side of his stomach that was still dripping blood.

"Do you plan to stand there or help me?" Lexior groaned in pain. "It really hurt."

"Mind telling me how you got injured?" I asked, going straight to his kitchen to get a glass.

He smirked. "Let's just say a little werewolf didn't like his girlfriend having fun with me."

"With a wound like that I doubt he is little."

He rolled his eyes. "Ok, fine, he was quite big, but to be honest, I'm sure he was just mad that I could make his girl scream that hard."

"Please be quiet." I bit deeply into my palm, and my blood flowed into the glass until it healed up.

I pass the glass to Lexior, who pouts as he asks, "Won't you feed me?"

"If you don't take this glass from me in the count of five, then I'm leaving you to die."

Knowing I was serious, he immediately collected the glass and drank it all up.

The wound began to heal, and soon, every trace of its existence was gone.

Lexior finally sat up, placing the glass on the table nearby, and said, "I'm so glad we became friends. I would have been dead a long time ago if you weren't by my side."

"If I wasn't by your side, maybe then you would learn not to piss off werewolves." I said, sitting beside him.

"I doubt it, not with all those hot she-wolves who want a piece of me." Lexior said smugly, and then his expression changed when he looked at me.

Worried flashed in his eyes as he asked, "Last night, did you..."

"Nothing happened."

"Then why do you look so bothered?"

I looked away and leaned my back on the couch with a sigh. "Alvira is my mate."

"Of course she is your mate. Have you forgotten the part in your vow when you took her as your mate?"

"No, Lexior. Even before we said those vows, my wolf claimed her as his and almost went rampant. The mate pull, the intoxicating scent, the connections that bring mates together, one that no Lycan has felt from the beginning—I felt it all last night."

Lexior looked at me in disbelief "But that's... that's not possible, but then again, you aren't just a Lycan, Kaldric. You are also a half vampire, so maybe it is possible."

"I'm not talking of it being possible or not, Lexior. I am telling you that Alvira Axton is my mate, and for the first time since I was born, the curse wasn't activated. The excruciating pain, the blankness of my mind, and the desire to destroy everything in sight disappeared the moment she stepped into the garden.

"And isn't this good news. It means with Alvira by your side, you will never lose control of yourself again in a full moon."

"But I don't trust her."

"Because she is Felix granddaughter?"

"While Dane position as the Alpha King of the south is secured with my marriage to his daughter, Felix stance on agreeing to this wedding when he clearly hate the vampire blood that runs in my vein remains unclear to me and it is for this reason, I can't trust Alvira, not yet."

Lexior look at me with a pitiful gaze and then slap a hand in shoulder "What will do if this marriage really turns out to be a trap? I know we have discuss this before and your plan was to wipe out the entire Axton family if truly your doubt about them were right. But since Alvira is now your mate....."

"Nothing is going to change. I am certain Felix has sent his granddaughter to me inorder to find out ways to ruin me and I cannot allow that to happen. Lexior, if anyone finds out about my curse, it will be used against me, and I will be deemed unfit to rule the Moonstone pack and since I cannot trust Alvira despite her being my mate, the plan still remain the same. I need Sylthara's heart to put a permanent end to this curse."

"Kaldric, we are talking about finding the heart of a witch who died two hundred years ago."

"I know and I've been thinking, and something about the way Slythara's heart was stolen a year ago doesn't make sense."

"What do you mean?"

I stood up, pacing his living room as I began to explain "Think about it. Slythara died two hundred years ago, but yet, her body never once rotted away. Her skin was still fresh as if she had only been sleeping, and no one except the priestess could come close to her body, but all of a sudden someone dared to come close and not just that but also rip her heart from her chest and left no trace. Doesn't that sound suspicious to you?"

"You think it was Susan, the priestess, who did it?" Lexior asked.

I shook my head. "I don't think it was Susan. I think it was Slythara herself who allowed her heart to be stolen. Slythara was a hybrid, half witch, half wolf. Just like me, she was the first of her kind, and the core of her magic was in her heart, and this is why when her heart was stolen, her body immediately began to decay. If my theory is right, that means Slythara's heart might currently be beating in someone else's chest, and it won't be long before she possesses that body as her own; after all, in her time, she was known as a manipulative, psychotic witch who got killed by her lover."

"That's a wild theory, Kaldric. But, if you are right, then how do we find out who that is, and most of all, after finding out, do we just rip it out of the person's chest?"

I arch my brow at his stupid question.

"Oh. So we are ripping it out of the person's chest."

"I need that heart, Lexior, and don't care who I have to kill to get it."

Lexior's gaze softened. "I understand, Kald. Every full moon, I have watched you suffer, so yeah, it doesn't matter who we have to kill to get you that heart and break your damn curse."

Now the question is, who could have Slythara's heart?
