ALEXANDER'S POINT OF VIEW
I signed the last contract and leaned back in my chair. The office was quiet. Most of the staff had gone home hours ago. Just me and the city lights stretching out beyond my window.
My phone buzzed. A text from Elena.
"When are you coming home? I miss you."
I smiled and typed back. "Leaving now. Miss you too."
I gathered my things and headed out. The drive home felt longer than usual. Maybe because I was eager to see her. To hold her. To talk about baby names and nursery colors and all the mundane, beautiful things that made up our life together.
Everything had changed since I told her I loved her. The walls between us were gone. We were building something real. Something that mattered.
I pulled up to the mansion and noticed that all the lights were on. Good. She was still awake.
Maria opened the door before I could reach for the handle.
"Good evening, Mr. Reyes."
"Evening, Maria. Is Elena upstairs?"
"Yes, sir. She had a visitor today."
