"Terra Guardian, this is Capital Star Sector Air Traffic Control, welcome home."
"I am the Adeptus Custodes Deputy Commander. We need to dock at the closest spaceport to the Terra Imperial Palace. We require your assistance in coordination. The Aeldari vessel behind us is an allied force... the Emperor's guests... please provide them with an air identification code."
"Received. We are arranging the best spaceport skybridge for you. We have already informed Trajann. He will be waiting for you at the spaceport... As for those abominable, contemptible, loathsome, revolting, despicable, heinous, nauseating, wretched, vile, foul, reprehensible, misbegotten Xenos, make sure they follow the rules."
Little Kitten put down the walkie-talkie and looked at Li Feng: "Sir, we just need to wait. We'll be landing at the spaceport soon."
Li Feng, at this moment, looked awkwardly at Yvraine and Visarch beside him... To be honest, he had never heard so many malicious words in his life... And the expressions of his two Aeldari friends were not good. They now wished they hadn't learned "TOEFL Vocabulary Memory Method in 45 Days" before coming...
As the spaceship gradually moved, Li Feng pressed against the porthole, his gaze lingering on the scene outside. This was the Sol System, the heart of the Imperium of Man. Countless colossal warships shuttled through the starry sky, and giant space stations and spaceports stood on orbit, forming a busy and magnificent cosmic tableau.
Li Feng's attention was drawn to the numerous space shipyards, operating day and night, producing one warship after another. In one of the shipyards, he noticed that the keel of a gigantic warship had already been laid, its scale astonishing, definitely exceeding 20 kilometers in length.
Mars was no longer the desolate, orange-red planet of yesteryear. Its surface was long since covered by countless factories and production workshops, with towering chimneys piercing the sky. Even from the spaceship, Li Feng could clearly see the constantly rising smoke. Mars had become the industrial center of the entire Imperium and the holy territory of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Soon, the spaceship stopped above a yellowish-brown planet, motionless. Li Feng furrowed his brows, a hint of doubt rising in his heart.
"Is the spaceship broken?" He turned to look at Little Kitten behind him, his tone tinged with confusion, "Why aren't we moving? What are we doing stopped above Venus?"
Little Kitten glanced at him, a hint of helplessness in her eyes, and softly said: "Sir... this isn't Venus, this is Holy Terra."
"Terra? Earth?" Li Feng turned his head, looking at the yellowish-brown planet outside the window again, his eyes full of confusion. This was Earth? That couldn't be right, could it? The Earth from his memory quickly appeared in his mind: a blue planet, 71% ocean, 29% land. The blue glow reflected by the atmosphere enveloped the entire planet, like a gemstone.
"Wait, Little Kitten! You can't fool me... How can Earth be like this? Where are the oceans? Where is that vast blue?"
At this point, Li Feng suddenly stopped, his words abruptly cut short. He realized that he was no longer in the world of his memories but had arrived in the future of Warhammer 40K. A heavy feeling welled up in his heart; the Earth of this world was no longer the blue planet.
Earth's ecology had long been mercilessly destroyed, the oceans dried up, and the former blue was covered by thick dust and industrial waste. The once beautiful planet now only consisted of barren yellow earth and a jungle of steel. What met his eyes was a plateau like the roof of the world, and on that plateau stood the incredibly magnificent Imperial Palace, and the glittering celestial pillar.
An indescribable feeling suddenly surged in Li Feng's heart—pain, loss, frustration... as if his beloved home had been cruelly destroyed, dilapidated beyond recognition. This pain washed over him like a tide, making him feel particularly uncomfortable. His home was no longer the Earth he knew, completely disfigured...
As the warship slowly docked at Terra's high-altitude spaceport, Li Feng stood on the skybridge of the docking track, gazing through the glass at the yellowish-brown planet below.
This once blue planet was now completely shrouded in industrialization, desolation, and dust. In the distance, colossal city ruins and endless steel structures pieced together a magnificent yet terrifying sight.
Stepping into the transport ship, Li Feng felt Terra's oppressive atmosphere grow even heavier. After the ship's hatch closed, the transport ship started and slowly traversed Terra's atmosphere.
Above the clouds, there were endless ships and satellites, like floating cities; and as it gradually descended, the desolate surface landscape became clearly visible. Terra's surface was covered by countless gigantic cities, abandoned factories, and skeletal ruins of steel and concrete. The sky was perpetually obscured by yellowish-gray smog and industrial exhaust, with the occasional glimpse of the sun being merely a faint speck of light.
The transport ship flew over a "Hive City" in the southern hemisphere. These colossal human habitation areas stretched to the horizon like steel forests, with crowded building complexes resembling growing vines, layered upon layer, encompassing every inch of land. From an aerial view, hundreds of stories high buildings looked like black scars, entwining every inch of the former Earth's skin.
On the streets, dense traffic networks intertwined like spider webs, filled with hurrying citizens, armored vehicles, and countless industrial equipment.
On the ground, yellow earth emitted a foul odor, while in the sky, mechs and giant spaceships shuttled ceaselessly. People lived in these indifferent steel jungles, like tiny cogs, endlessly turning for the Imperium's machine.
The transport ship flew towards the Imperial Palace, the heart of Terra and the absolute center of the Imperium of Man. From afar, the plateau where the Imperial Palace was located seemed like a giant peak spanning between heaven and earth, and the Imperial Palace itself was as majestic as a divine dwelling. The immense size of the Imperial City built around the Palace occupied the entire northern hemisphere of Terra, its endless walls and defensive fortifications as towering as mountains, guarding this most sacred building in the universe.
Upon reaching the Imperial Palace, the colossal golden dome glittered in the dim sky, as if the Emperor's majesty had personally arrived. Li Feng stared intently at this building, almost coeval with history, his heart filled with both awe and heaviness. The scale of the Imperial Palace was beyond imagination; from the outside, it was practically a self-contained giant city, within which countless palaces, fortresses, chapels, and innumerable military facilities were nestled.
During the short journey from the spaceport to the Imperial Palace, Li Feng deeply felt the coldness and deathly aura of Terra, this central planet of the Imperium. The once vibrant Earth now only had silent yellow earth and pale steel.
As the transport ship arrived, Li Feng wondered if he needed to wear an oxygen mask down... The hatch slowly opened, and two rows of Custodians stood in a neat honor guard formation on either side of the transport ship.
"Welcome to Terra's highest city! The Imperial Palace! Hey... isn't that Old Ma's statue?"
At the head of that honor guard stood Captain-General Trajann, and a tall red-haired woman wearing a suit, trousers... and a tie. The red-haired woman's golden eyes were fixed unblinkingly on Li Feng.
"Did you miss me, darling?"
