The meal ended peacefully.
After everyone finished eating, Bo Xi quietly returned to her study room. She planned to pack a few of her things and move them elsewhere.
Han Wei, his son, and Han Bei would stay in this room from now on.
Bo Xi carefully began putting her books, scrolls, and writing tools into a wooden box. Some of the items had been with her for years, so she handled them gently, making sure nothing was damaged.
For the time being, she would have to use Han Fei's dressing table as a study table. It wasn't very convenient, but there was no other choice.
Just as she finished packing a few books, Han Fei entered the room carrying a bundle of blankets.
"Why are you carrying something so heavy?" Bo Xi said immediately, frowning slightly. "You should have just called me."
She quickly walked over and took the blankets from his arms before he could protest.
Han Fei smiled softly.
"Other men can still work in the fields while pregnant," he said lightly. "This is nothing."
Bo Xi didn't reply, but her expression softened a little. She placed the blankets neatly on the chair and then lifted the heavier boxes herself, carrying them back to their room one by one.
After everything was finally moved, Bo Xi sat down on the edge of the bed, breathing slightly harder than usual. A thin layer of sweat had formed on her forehead.
It was already dark outside.
Only their room was still lit, the faint glow of a candle flickering gently against the walls.
For a moment, Bo Xi remained silent.
Then her expression slowly turned serious.
She had received a letter from the capital earlier that day.
Her fingers tightened slightly.
Her aunt had written that she would soon send guards to escort her. Once they arrived, Bo Xi's identity would no longer remain hidden.
The letter had also mentioned something else.
There was unrest at the border.
Qinghe Province, where Bo Xi was currently staying, shared its borders with two neighboring kingdoms. The situation was becoming unstable, and her aunt was worried that things might get worse very soon.
Because of that, she strongly urged Bo Xi to leave Qinghe Province and move to Yanzhou Province instead.
Yanzhou was located near the sea and much safer compared to the border regions.
Bo Xi hesitated for a long moment.
But soon, her eyes became firm.
She gently led Han Fei to the bed and made him sit down.
"I have something important to tell you," Bo Xi said seriously.
Hearing her tone, Han Fei immediately became nervous. His fingers tightened slightly as he looked at her, sensing that what she was about to say was not something simple.
Bo Xi slowly took his hand in hers.
Then, in a calm voice, she began telling him everything—about her true identity, about how she discovered it, and about the letter she had received from the capital.
The more Han Fei listened, the paler his face became.
In his past life, because of his resentment, he had remained trapped in the village even after his death. Sometimes he would fall into long periods of unconsciousness, but at times he would wake briefly and see fragments of the outside world.
During one of those times, he had seen Bo Xi.
She was dressed in luxurious clothing, surrounded by servants. Her bearing had been completely different from the quiet woman he once knew. He had even seen her donate a large amount of money for the development of the village.
Back then, he had simply thought that Bo Xi had become successful in her career.
He had never imagined that her identity was so extraordinary.
Now, hearing the truth directly from her, Han Fei felt anxious and worried. A faint fear rose in his heart—fear that the distance between them would suddenly become too great.
Seeing his expression, Bo Xi gently squeezed his hand.
"I won't leave you behind," she said softly.
She patiently comforted him, promising him again and again that nothing between them would change.
Only after a long while did Han Fei finally calm down. The tension in his face slowly faded, and his breathing became steady again.
Bo Xi looked at him seriously.
"I promise," she said quietly, "from now on, I won't hide anything from you anymore."
Han Fei nodded.
As for the space…
Han Fei had actually known about it for a long time.
But he had never asked, and Bo Xi had never explained it either.
It remained an unspoken understanding between them.
After all, how could Bo Xi possibly hide something like that from the person who stayed by her side almost every day?
Yet neither of them spoke about it.
Some truths didn't need words.
After changing their clothes, the two of them went to bed.
However, they did not sleep peacefully for long.
In the middle of the night, both of them woke up almost at the same time because of the heat.
During the day, the temperature had already been extremely high, but at least it would become slightly cooler at night. Today, however, the heat felt even worse than during the daytime.
The air in the room was heavy and suffocating.
Bo Xi slowly loosened the collar of her robe, trying to make herself more comfortable. Just then, she heard faint footsteps outside. Someone walked toward the well, lowered a bucket, and then carried it away.
She guessed it must be one of the other family members who also couldn't bear the heat.
When she turned her head, she saw that Han Fei was sweating badly. His hair was damp, and his breathing was slightly uneven. He had already loosened his robe a little, but he still looked uncomfortable.
A faint frown appeared on his face, as if the heat was making him irritable.
Bo Xi quietly sat up and took a hand fan from the side of the bed.
Then she began to fan him slowly.
"Sleep," she said softly. "I'll fan you."
Han Fei wanted to protest. He didn't want her to stay awake because of him, especially now. But seeing her calm expression, he didn't insist anymore.
Gradually, the cool air from the fan eased the heat around him.
His frown slowly disappeared, and his breathing became steady again.
Soon, he fell asleep.
Bo Xi looked at him quietly for a moment. She only took out a little iced juice from her space and quietly drank it herself.
Outside the room, she could hear faint murmurs. It seemed that the others had also woken up and were sitting in the main room, fanning themselves because of the unbearable heat.
After confirming that Han Fei had fallen into a deep sleep, Bo Xi finally stood up quietly.
She took out a large chunk of ice and placed it near the window. Slowly, the air in the room became a little cooler and more comfortable.
Then she returned to the bed.
Over time, she had developed the habit of holding Han Fei while sleeping. Without thinking much, she gently wrapped her arms around him again.
The cool air drifted through the room, and the sound of the night grew quiet once more.
Soon, Bo Xi also slowly drifted back to sleep beside him.
