Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: The Shining Mars! Yuuki’s Chosen Opponent!

Elemental spirits have nothing to do with the elf tribe. (T/N:This may not make sense to some but I've noticed that Chinese authors call Little animals, spirits and heck even pokemon elf)

In the world of Black Clover, all magic attributes are based on the four primary elements: fire, wind, water, and earth.

Each of these elements has its own elemental spirit: the fire spirit Salamander, also known as the fire lizard; the wind spirit Sylph; the water spirit Undine; and the yet-to-appear earth spirit Gnome.

These elemental spirits possess unique magic that, when combined with a user, allow for one-of-a-kind spirit magic as well as special states of spirit assimilation.

Yuuki glanced at the magic scroll capable of summoning the wind spirit. If he wanted to obtain this spirit, he would have to replicate Yuno's four-leaf clover wind magic.

Even so, Yuuki knew that if the wind spirit were truly allowed to choose, the chances of Sylph siding with Yuno were far higher than siding with him.

Why?

Among the four elemental spirits, Yuuki favored Salamander the most.

The process of bonding with an elemental spirit is mutual—they choose the user as much as the user chooses them.

"Without its help, becoming the Wizard King would be far more difficult. Yuno… you owe me a huge favor."

"When I replicate your four-leaf grimoire, I won't hold back."

Yuuki smiled faintly and turned toward the treasure palace's main gate.

Whether Asta had the Demon-Dweller Sword or not didn't drastically affect overall combat strength, but if Yuno lost Sylph, his power would take a serious hit.

Outside the palace:

Yuno, unusually flustered, gasped as he stared at the figure radiating terrifying magical energy.

So strong…!

Yuno's gaze hardened, locking onto the opponent without a hint of distraction. Since joining the Golden Dawn, he had never encountered a foe this overwhelmingly powerful.

His wind magic stLuck the enemy but was completely blocked by armor made of solid ore.

"You're the one who attacked the Golden Dawn, aren't you?"

Asta roared, brandishing the Demon-Dweller Sword with both hands.

"So what if I am? The strong survive, the weak perish!"

"Those who are weak on the battlefield have no right to exist. I exist to destroy people like you."

The cold voice came from a man with silver hair, a diamond embedded in his forehead, standing before them.

The next moment:

The three sides collided again.

Terrifying roars echoed as Asta and the Black Bulls joined the fray, giving Yuno's Golden Dawn a much-needed reprieve.

As everyone's attention remained locked on the fierce battle, no one noticed the black spatial portal suddenly appear behind the palace's main gate.

It vanished almost instantly, as if it had never been there.

Yuuki, cloaked in invisibility, kept his eyes on the ongoing fight between Asta and Mars of the Diamond Kingdom.

Facing such a powerful enemy, only Asta's anti-magic could harm Mars. Even Yuno could only play a supporting role.

Bang!

A dull impact resonated.

To everyone's shock, Asta had dashed before Mars could react, striking him with a sword that sent him flying!

The battle was so thrilling that Yuuki, standing at the edge of the battlefield, couldn't help but feel like applauding.

Mars was one of the Eight Shining Generals of the Diamond Kingdom. In terms of status, he was equivalent to a captain of the Clover Kingdom's Magic Knights.

In raw strength, the Eight Shining Generals were slightly weaker than the Magic Knight captains but still undeniably formidable.

Asta's anti-magic was truly a textbook example of fighting above one's weight class.

"That's enough."

Seeing Asta strike Mars with the Demon-Dweller Sword, Yuuki decided it was time to act.

On the battlefield:

"I said, can't you move anymore, you bastard?!"

Asta yelled toward where Mars had been knocked back.

Bang!

A terrifying surge of magic erupted, radiating outward. Layer upon layer of ore flowers sprouted from the ground at visible speed.

Mars, rising from the water where he had landed, began forming more ore across his body. Everyone tensed—clearly, he wasn't so easy to defeat.

Then, at the very moment everyone readied themselves for another tense clash:

Whoosh!

A black spatial portal appeared directly above Mars. Neither Asta, Yuno, nor anyone else anticipated it.

Even Mars, focused entirely on Asta, couldn't react in time and was sucked into the portal.

The portal appeared and vanished with such stealth and speed that it seemed instantaneous.

Everyone watching Mars's sudden disappearance wore stunned expressions.

"What… just happened?"

Klaus of Golden Dawn looked utterly bewildered.

"Was he rescued?" Luck, crackling with electricity, tilted his head in confusion.

"Shouldn't we be at a disadvantage here?"

Noelle twitched an eyebrow at Luck's comment.

"Here!"

"Come out!"

Asta and Yuno's shouts rang out almost simultaneously.

Massive wind blades formed, flooding the front lines. Asta listened carefully and threw the Demon-Dweller Sword toward the same location.

Boom!

The area erupted, dust scattering, revealing a figure emerging from the smoke.

Yuuki, cloaked in black and wearing a mask, stepped forward, holding the already-damaged invisibility cloak.

Impressive.

Yuuki silently admired Asta and Yuno's reflexes.

Mars was exactly the opponent he had been looking for: strong, yet not at the level of a Magic Knight captain—perfect for testing his abilities.

He had intended to transport Mars along with himself, but Mars had reacted too quickly. Yuuki had to close the portal early, leaving him behind temporarily, which allowed Asta and Yuno to spot the opening.

Glancing at the damaged invisibility cloak in his hand, Yuuki winced internally—it had cost him 30,000 Yul, and Yuno hadn't held back at all.

"It's you… or not?"

"The mask is different, the magic is different."

Seeing Yuuki in his black robes and mask, Asta immediately recalled the enemy from Soshi Village and voiced his suspicion.

Yuuki had no fear of being recognized.

The black robes concealed his figure, and his grimoire was hidden inside, leaving Asta no way to gauge him.

On the battlefield:

Everyone's eyes were fixed on Yuuki. Each stood poised, ready to attack, but no one moved. They clearly didn't know his identity.

At least from his previous actions, Yuuki had indeed saved them.
