Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Giai Moc Vi didn't react to Ve Dinh Tieu's proposal. On the contrary, Dam Uyen Chi clapped her hands excitedly.

"There's no safer place than the police station! This is a great idea!"

Then she winked at Giai Moc Vi with a very clear hint.

Giai Moc Vi didn't understand Dam Uyen Chi's hints and silently pondered Ve Dinh Tieu's proposal.

Compared to the two kidnappers, the police officer who claimed to have a "carousel" story with her seemed slightly more trustworthy.

The photo he had just shown also proved that they indeed had a past. She didn't remember anything now, so unexpected things could easily happen.

To prevent anyone from casually claiming to know about her situation, staying close to this police officer was actually not a bad choice.

Moreover, the most important thing was that the police had a lot of information, and through this "trickster" officer, she could quickly learn everything about herself.

Not bad.

Alright. Giai Moc Vi agreed.

Ve Dinh Tieu stood up and excused himself to Ngan So: "Inspector Ngan So, I'll leave a bit early today, sorry."

Ngan So smiled even more kindly. "It's okay, Dinh Tieu. Those two criminals are being interrogated by Nhuoc Lan and Lang Trac Uan. Don't worry! Take good care of Giai—this is also part of the police's duty to protect citizens."

As Giai Moc Vi followed Ve Dinh Tieu out, they ran into a few familiar detectives on the way.

Among them, a male detective with curly bangs kept smiling at Ve Dinh Tieu.

"This guy already knows you like her, yet he pretends that before finding the bomber to avenge his friends, he won't think about romance. Tsk tsk."

Ngan So patted his shoulder, laughing: "Trac Uan, stop teasing him. Let's go see how far Nhuoc Lan has gotten with the questioning."

The victim was a student of Khuong Tich Yen, and since the case had been handled by Khuong Tich Yen before, she also wanted to serve as a witness to provide clues and confirm the kidnappers' motives before the case could be transferred to the prosecutor's office. Khuong Tich Yen and Dam Uyen Chi stayed behind to take the testimony.

Ve Dinh Tieu walked ahead with Giai Moc Vi following him.

"My car is new, and you're the first one to sit in it," he said, swinging the keys in his hand as he led Giai Moc Vi toward the parking lot.

Men often showed a delighted smile when faced with a big toy like a car.

It was a black Mazda RX-7.

Parked quietly under the streetlight, the orange-yellow glow reflected off its sleek body. Two beeps sounded as the door unlocked.

Ve Dinh Tieu opened the passenger door, casually resting his arm on it, and smiled: "Cool, right? This car is nicknamed the 'soul fighter'! You think it suits me, don't you?"

He was wearing a dark black suit, even the tie was black.

Leaning against the black car, he looked like someone coming out of a funeral home.

Giai Moc Vi didn't say a word at Ve Dinh Tieu's overly natural behavior.

He fastened his seatbelt, gently caressed the steering wheel, then leaned in and smiled at Giai Moc Vi: "I didn't buy this car for its name, but for someone."

"Uh." Giai Moc Vi responded coldly.

Ve Dinh Tieu raised his voice slightly at the end: "Why don't you ask if that someone is a man or a woman? Didn't you used to care about this?"

"?" Giai Moc Vi.

This guy had some vanity, after all.

Giai Moc Vi found it amusing: "Why would I care?"

Her counter-question surprised him for a moment. His face hidden in the streetlight shadow looked a bit embarrassed, but he quickly reacted, sitting upright and looking seriously at her.

"You used to like me very much."

"…" Giai Moc Vi.

She reached for the door handle, wanting to get out. This guy was crazy.

Ve Dinh Tieu was quick, pressing the lock button skillfully, then spread his hands innocently: "Alright, I'll tell you. It's a man, my best friend, the bomb-defusing cop who sacrificed himself for the bomb case. He really liked the RX-7."

"?" Giai Moc Vi.

The problem was… what was this about? She didn't care whether that person was male or female!

Giai Moc Vi turned and glared at him: "How could I have liked you? Even if we had a romantic relationship before, it should have been you pursuing me, right?"

Ve Dinh Tieu froze for a moment, then his expression stiffened slightly, as if restraining something.

But his good upbringing didn't allow him to laugh out loud, so only his shoulders trembled as he tried to suppress a smile and said:

"Alright, if it makes you happier, let's say I was the one pursuing you."

Giai Moc Vi grew even angrier. What kind of reluctant tone was that?

She twisted the door handle twice, failing to open it, and got even more frustrated: "Take back that annoying look! If you don't want to talk, we can—"

Before she finished, the man's face suddenly turned serious.

He withdrew his gentle smile, and a strong aura radiated from him.

The surrounding light dimmed slightly, but his dark eyes shone brightly, like stars settled within them.

"Listen. I don't care when you regain your memory. Even if you never remember, it's fine. I'll repeat what I said on the carousel if you forgot."

"I will never abandon you. If I say I'll always do something, I will see it through."

"That's a man's vow."

He suddenly leaned in, placing his arm on the back of Giai Moc Vi's seat.

For the first time, Giai Moc Vi seriously observed this man. His face imprinted in her mind, every word clear as if carved into her ears.

He said: "I will never agree to a breakup. Don't bring it up again, or I'll slow down. Because… I really like you, Moc Vi."

His fingers were very close to her cheek, as if he could touch her any moment. The darkness made his face look a little intense. His eyes were the most captivating, if he hadn't said that teasing sentence afterward.

"I'm afraid that after you recover your memory, you'll regret asking to break up with me."

"?" Giai Moc Vi.

Her fists tightened.

Before losing her memory, what exactly did she like about this damn guy?! Unbelievable.
