Chapter 66 - Misunderstanding

"I can't wait to hear all about your relationship drama! This is so exciting!" Giyuu brushes off Tengen's arm and stands up, his expression unreadable. "There's nothing to tell. And it's not drama." He starts walking toward his next class, ignoring the knowing looks from his friends. Shinobu calls after him with a singsong voice.

"Sure, sure! Just keep telling yourself that, Giyuu!" Sanemi lies on his bed, Mochi curled up on his chest, purring contentedly. "That stupid cat always takes your side." He gently strokes Mochi's fur, a small smile breaking through his usual scowl. "But I guess she's kinda cute. Don't tell anyone I said that." He glances over at Giyuu, who's sitting at his desk studying.

"Hey, Giyuu. Come here for a second. Stop studying and come cuddle with me and Mochi." He pats the space beside him on the bed, looking almost vulnerable without his usual hostility. "The cat's getting jealous of all that paperwork you're paying attention to." Giyuu hesitates for a moment before standing up and walking over to the bed.

"You're ridiculous, you know that?" He carefully sits down next to Sanemi, maintaining his stoic expression despite the warmth spreading through him. Mochi stretches lazily and moves to curl up in Giyuu's lap instead. "See? Even the cat knows who's really in charge here." Sanemi wraps his arms around Giyuu's waist, pulling him closer against his chest. "Finally. You're always so stiff when we're around others." He rests his chin on Giyuu's shoulder, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Relax for once, will you? No one's here to see the mighty water pillar being soft." Sanemi started a video game on his controller. Giyuu watches Sanemi's gameplay over his shoulder, occasionally reaching down to pet Mochi. "You're going to get us both killed with those reflexes." Sanemi scoffs, expertly maneuvering through the game. "Please. I'm the Wind Hashira. I've got better reflexes than anyone else at this school."

He presses closer to Giyuu, using him as a human shield from Mochi's curious paws. "Just don't blame me when the cat knocks your controller away." Mochi, sensing Sanemi's defensiveness, swats playfully at the controller dangling from his hand. "See what I mean? The cat's trying to sabotage me." Sanemi attempts to shield his controller while keeping Giyuu trapped in his embrace.

"You're supposed to protect me from her, not laugh at my suffering!" Giyuu can't help but smirk slightly at Sanemi's predicament.

"Maybe if you weren't so aggressive in your gaming, she wouldn't attack." Sanemi growls in frustration as Mochi successfully bats the controller from his hand. "Damn cat! You're worse than Giyuu sometimes."

He buries his face in Giyuu's neck, pretending to sulk while secretly enjoying the closeness. "Now I have to start all over again. This is your fault too, you know." Mochi triumphantly sits on the fallen controller, looking pleased with herself. Giyuu chuckles softly, the sound rare and genuine. "You're blaming everything on me today. Maybe you should focus on your game instead of complaining." He reaches over to pet Mochi, who purrs louder at the attention.

"And don't act like you weren't asking for it. You know how she gets when you're aggressive." Sanemi nips playfully at Giyuu's ear. "Shut up. You're supposed to be on my side, not the cat's." Sanemi watches as Giyuu settles back with his book, still holding him close. "You're really going to read while I'm suffering here? Cold as ever, Tomioka."

He steals a glance at the book cover, then sighs dramatically. "At least read something interesting. Not one of those boring history books again." Mochi curls up between them, content to nap while Sanemi continues his gaming attempts. Sanemi smirks against Giyuu's neck, his breath warm against his skin.

"You're so demanding when you're comfortable. It's kind of hot." Giyuu rolls his eyes but doesn't pull away from Sanemi's embrace.

"And you're still annoying, even when you try to be sweet." He turns a page in his book, trying to hide the slight blush creeping up his cheeks. "Just keep playing your game. I'm trying to read." Sanemi grins victoriously, knowing he's getting under Giyuu's skin in the best way possible. Sanemi deliberately makes his gaming sounds louder and more dramatic, trying to distract Giyuu.

"Hey, watch this epic combo! No way I'm losing now." He shifts his position slightly, pressing even closer to Giyuu with a mischievous smile. "Though I guess I already won, since I got you to drop the book for a moment." Giyuu deliberately places the book higher, blocking Sanemi from view. "I'm not dropping anything. You're just getting in the way of my reading." He adjusts his position again, making sure Sanemi can't see the page numbers.

"And if you don't stop being so noisy, I might actually start reading aloud. With commentary." Sanemi gasps dramatically, clutching his chest as if mortally wounded. "The horror! Not the commentary!" He pauses his game and starts poking Giyuu's side, trying to find a ticklish spot. "I'll make you regret those words, Giyuu. Or should I say... my favorite bookworm?" "Shut up, I am not a bookworm." Sanemi leans in close, his voice dropping to a husky whisper.

"Alright, Giyuu. You asked for it." He continues his tickle attack while deliberately saying his name slowly and seductively. "Giyuu... Giyuu... Giyuu..." His fingers dance across Giyuu's ribs, determined to break his stoic facade. Giyuu tries to maintain his composure, but a small twitch of his lips betrays him.

"Stop that. You're acting like a child."

He attempts to catch Sanemi's hands, but the movement causes him to lose his grip on the book. "And you're making me lose my place in the story." Sanemi seizes the opportunity, quickly snatching the book away. "Gotcha! No more reading for you until you admit I'm more interesting than that boring book." He holds the book just out of Giyuu's reach, a triumphant grin on his face. "Come on, Giyuu. Just one little confession." Mochi meows at them and Sanemi glances at her with a smirk.

"See? Even the cat agrees with me. She wants you to play with me instead of reading." He tosses the book onto the nightstand and wraps both arms around Giyuu again. "Now it's just us. No more distractions, right Mochi?" Mochi stretches and hops off the bed, clearly done with their antics. "Looks like even Mochi's abandoning you. Guess you're stuck with me now." Sanemi gently turns Giyuu's face towards him, his expression softening.
