Lucas slept on her couch — by her insistence — after he'd calmed down.
In the morning, she made pancakes. He watched her from the doorway, hair tousled, looking softer than she'd ever seen him.
"About last night…" he began.
Emma's heart tightened.
But Lucas stepped closer. "I don't regret it. Not at all. I just… don't want to pull you into my chaos."
Lucas," she said firmly. "Love isn't about waiting for your life to be perfect."
His eyes widened slightly. "Love?"
Emma swallowed. "I didn't mean —"
He touched her cheek. I think I'm falling for you too."
