Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: 2004, Tamamo Side Story 1

"Are you my Master?"

Tamamo covered her lips with a fan to hide her disgusted expression.

"Welcome. Caster, or should I say, the Golden-Haired White-Faced Nine-Tailed Fox?"

Tamamo couldn't help but frown at the name "Golden-Haired White-Faced Nine-Tailed Fox."

"What was the summoning catalyst?"

Tamamo had no choice but to be curious.

She wondered how such a man could have summoned her, so she had to ask.

"Hmm, you seem curious. Fine, I'll tell you. The catalyst that allowed me to summon you was the Killing Stone. Would you like me to introduce myself?"

"No, I understand the current situation. I was called by the Holy Grail and revived in this world upon obtaining you as my Master, correct?"

"Correct, that is a Servant. That is the Holy Grail War. As expected of a Caster, you're quick on the uptake, which saves me time. Now that I look at you... you were an Onmyoji, not a magus, right? You use witchcraft or something?"

"Yes, unlike magecraft, witchcraft is closer to curses. Well, since I can turn a curse into a blessing, it's as different from magecraft as heaven and earth."

"Right, since magecraft and witchcraft are different anyway, I'm not interested. I don't know much about Japanese Heroic Spirits, but I've done some preliminary research... so I should say there's no need for your story. It's been a long journey from the distant past, so you must be tired. Would you like a glass of champagne?"

Tamamo couldn't shake off the disgust from the creepy gaze scanning her body as the twisted color of his soul spoke in such a way.

"Thank you for your consideration, but before that, I haven't heard your name yet. Wouldn't it be quite unfair if only you knew and I didn't?"

"Ah, right. It seems I lacked consideration. I am Atrum Galliasta, a Master dispatched from the Clock Tower. My goal in obtaining the Grail, now that the opportunity has arisen, is for the development of the magecraft world and to obtain a peaceful future. Is this introduction satisfactory?"

Looking at the color of his soul, I couldn't trust him at all, so I had to ask.

"What do you mean by a peaceful future?"

"A world where there are no beings that frighten me. Not as much as in your era, but humans are still full of fools. The greater the means of status, the better. For example, your Noble Phantasm... Hmm... before that, what is your Noble Phantasm?"

Tsk, in the end, it's just for his own peace. I guess a hideous soul is hideous after all.

"It is called the Eightfold Blessings of Amaterasu (Suiten Nikkō Amaterasu Yano Shizu-Ishi). Originally, it is a treasure of the underworld capable of reviving even the dead, but now, due to its rank being greatly reduced to D, it should be seen as a Noble Phantasm that cannot be used properly."

Then Atrum took a pose and snapped his fingers.

The beauties behind him and Atrum began to sneer.

"This is troubling! I summoned the famous Nine-Tailed Fox, but her Noble Phantasm can't be used properly. Isn't this... a dud Servant! Hahaha."

At the same time, Atrum kicked the cart, and the sound of wine bottles breaking echoed.

I had never met such a trashy person in my life, though I spent those days happily.

In the end, that happiness ended when it was revealed that I was a fox, but now, summoned as a Heroic Spirit, I was tasting the worst of the worst experiences.

My emotion went beyond disgust to loathing, and when I bit my lip, I hid the blood flowing from my mouth with my fan.

"However, my Witchcraft is EX rank."

"Ha? If you can't even use your Noble Phantasm properly, what's the point? Can you beat six Servants with Witchcraft EX? Trying to win with just witchcraft, which is nothing more than useless curses... absurd."

'To think the day would come when Tamamo would feel humiliation beyond such insults. Heaven is cruel.'

There was no such thing as a wish in the Holy Grail War.

I just wanted to be happy, but this was closer to a curse where god was mocking me.

'A fox cannot become a human, and a human cannot become a fox, I suppose.'

"In the end, even if you know witchcraft, aren't you just an evil spirit! To think you were such a weak Caster. The name Golden-Haired White-Faced Nine-Tailed Fox is wasted on you."

Every time that name was mentioned, I felt blood rushing to my head.

"Please stop insulting me."

"Hah? Well, does it matter? Even a Servant has its uses. I'll train you until that cheeky tone disappears. By my Command Spell, I order you. Obey my words."

Feeling the compulsion of the Command Spell at those words, I knelt.

"What on earth is this..."

What kind of recklessness is this?

"Strip."

As I took off my clothes by the power of the Command Spell, I felt shame.

"This is the difference in standing between a Master and a Servant."

A human full of arrogance who didn't know his place was disgusting.

"Yes, I'll make those eyes submit soon enough."

Atrum Galliasta, with greedy eyes, licked his lips and examined Tamamo's body, seeming to enjoy it.

"Even if you're a dud Servant... your body is first-class. Enough to draw crowds to a brothel."

The evaluation, disgusting enough to make me vomit, did not end.

"Well, let's leave it at this for today. If you don't follow my words later, I'll pickle you slowly."

Suppressing my disgust, I decided to just follow that Master.

"Ah, right. There's something I wanted to ask you. do you think glory can be bought with a title bought with money?"

Tamamo honestly thought that achievements made by oneself were glory, rather than a title bought with money.

However, since she had to cater to her Master's mood, she said what he would likely want to hear.

"No, if it can be used, it is all your power. If you use financial power as a weapon, a corresponding strategy would also be possible."

And as she put her clothes back on, the Master called 'Atrum Galliasta' smiled and said:

"No, it's trouble if you misunderstand. As a magus, I just need preparation to overwhelm other Masters. Well, there's something I should show Caster. Follow me, I'll show you the proof."

And what I saw was a magecraft workshop.

There, children were inside bio-capsules, and it didn't take even a second to realize that souls, still shining brightly compared to the disgusting Master, had become sacrifices.

'Disgusting, disgusting. Those children's souls are better than a person with such a soul.'

It was a scene disgusting enough to make me want to dry heave.

If his soul had been brighter, it wouldn't have been disgusting.

I might have just thought it was natural.

Now, I just spoke with an expressionless face, without acting.

"This is... an alchemy workshop."

"My family's magecraft lineage creates mana through equivalent exchange. Well, it's a primitive curse using sacrifices. The workshop is a system made more modern and efficient than that. It would be better to show you the process of making it once."

And a woman approaching next to him touched a tablet.

I saw liquid filling up where the children were.

Watching that, Atrum said proudly.

"As expected, fresh ingredients are the best."

Watching living beings being treated as nothing more than livestock, I felt like I would feel refreshed only after vomiting several times.

'This person doesn't even value life. Too arrogant, disgusting...'

Tamamo originally belonged to Neutral/Evil, but the influence of the color of Atrum's soul was significant.

If she had met a combo close to a pair, she might have thought this behavior was natural.

Then the lights went out, the capsules began to shine, the contents of the capsules disappeared, and the liquid turned red.

I could see the liquid converting the life force into mana and creating a gem made of mana.

In the process, souls and lives were extinguished, and a gem imbued with mana was completed.

"How is it? I completed in an instant what would normally take about a month. Ah, don't worry about the materials. I didn't procure them from Fuyuki's land. You can consider them genuine goods purchased elsewhere."

'This person. He doesn't even notice what expression I'm making. I want to cut the command of the Command Spell and wish for no more ties.'

In a place where the Master couldn't see, I planned to create a witchcraft spell to transfer the Command Spell's order (curse) and the mana path commanded to the Servant to a human-shaped paper charm.

I can't stay here anymore.

If I endure even one day, how long will I have to endure these disgusting things?

It was better to kill myself than this.

But this was the first time I was this angry.

Tamamo was neither good nor evil, just Neutral and Evil, but deciding to give that man a blow, she focused on witchcraft for a day.

And so, she cast a human-shaped paper charm witchcraft to replace her for Atrum Galliasta's mana path and Command Spell orders.

"Ties, fate, and commands, I put them all here."

This is a curse and a prayer. Witchcraft was created by putting one's wish, which is a curse, into it.

Well, it's not a curse, but no one knows why the image of witchcraft became the concept of a curse.

I just cut the mana path, decided to end the connection here, blew up the magecraft workshops one by one to send the children outside, and absorbed the life force of Atrum Galliasta's subordinates for my mana supply and burned the corpses.
