Nyx woke up to darkness and the smell of blood. Her hands were soaked in blood. She looked down and saw Fenris's throat torn open, his eyes were still wide with shock but when she blinked, it wasn't Fenris anymore.
It was Kai. Then Lamia. Then Raziel.
Each face transformed into the next, all of them bleeding out while she stood over them unable to control the wolf that had taken over her body.
"No, no, no…" She backed away, but she slipped in the blood.
She was surrounded by countless bloody bodies now, all staring at her with dead eyes.
"Nyx."
A familiar voice cut through the nightmare.
"Nyx, wake up."
Strong hands gripped her shoulders. She lashed out immediately, ready to fight.
"Easy! It's me. It's Raziel. You're safe."
Reality crashed back. She looked around. She wasn't in a blood soaked battlefield but in Raziel's chambers, on his bed.
Raziel was holding her with concern and fear in his eyes. Nyx looked down at her hands. They were clean. There was no blood.
