Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Blue Castle Exploration Event 1

Back home, Haibara told Professor Agasa about Lin Jianhe moving in. Professor Agasa readily agreed, and that very evening, he drove to Lin Jianhe's current apartment to help her move her belongings.

"Little Jianhe, is this yours?"

"Hello, madam, I am Jianhe's uncle, here to take her home," Professor Agasa said.

"Landlady Auntie, thank you for your care these past few days."

"Oh, Little Jianhe, you're too polite. Even after you move in with your uncle, you must still come visit me often."

It seemed that flattery worked on everyone. Just like in these past few days, the landlady had already fallen for Lin Jianhe's sweet "Auntie"s.

Haibara looked at Lin Jianhe and couldn't help but marvel at her adaptability. She completely embodied all the characteristics of an elementary school student, something Haibara couldn't feign.

After exchanging a few farewells with the landlady, the group entered the house to prepare for moving luggage.

Though the small apartment seemed tiny, it was packed with many things. Professor Agasa originally wanted to help her move a few cardboard boxes by the door, but Lin Jianhe stopped him with a shout.

"Don't touch it! It might explode!"

Professor Agasa's hand froze next to the box. Hearing her words, he instantly broke out in a cold sweat. "Then... then you pack. If you need help with anything, I'll assist."

"Okay, thank you, Professor. Just stand on the carpet like that, and whatever you do, don't step forward!"

Listening to Lin Jianhe's instructions, Professor Agasa and Haibara stood motionless by the door, watching Lin Jianhe pull back the made bed. Beneath it, the entire bed was covered with firearms and ammunition: sniper rifles, rifles, handguns, submachine guns—everything imaginable.

They watched her pack away the firearms and ammunition, then take out several more boxes of ammunition and countless grenades from the cabinet.

"Haibara Ai, did we just walk into an armory...?" Professor Agasa's voice trembled slightly.

"Oh, my." Ai Haibara was not surprised, after all, Famas used to have a nickname in the organization.

Human Armory.

She possessed extraordinary disguise and adaptability, as well as formidable firepower and strength. Aiba Yu's adaptability was clearly much stronger than her own; she quickly accepted the fact of her shrinking and rapidly integrated into her current life.

However, despite appearances, Haibara knew that everything she displayed could be a disguise. Haibara suddenly recalled her first true encounter with Aiba Yu when she was twelve. She couldn't help but sigh, she had really changed a lot compared to then.

Lin Jianhe found another opportunity to return to the apartment and moved everything she could. Just as she expected, the organization had discovered her hidden residence and installed transmitters and bombs on the door and inside the room, but she had dismantled them all.

After she had packed everything in the bedroom, she walked to the living room and removed several infrared alarm sensors and a few timed transmitters.

Then, with a beaming smile, she looked at the two by the door. "Then I'll leave it to Professor Agasa. Please handle the boxes with care, okay?"

"Yes... yes..." Knowing what he was carrying, Professor Agasa's steps were somewhat unsteady.

Even while driving, he dared not go too fast. He drove home carefully all the way. Lin Jianhe moved into one of the empty bedrooms as Haibara had arranged.

"You can't just leave these cherished items lying around the house," Ai Haibara said, picking up a box of grenades and heading downstairs. "This place is very safe, so you don't need to set up those mechanisms. I'll keep these things for you for now."

"What?!" Hearing that her weapons were to be sealed away, Lin Jianhe's eyes widened, and she quickly followed. "You can at least give me a handgun for self-defense, right? That way I can protect you and Professor Agasa."

Haibara narrowed her eyes and turned to look at her, resolutely uttering two words: "No."

"Please! Please, please!" Being without her weapons, even if it was with the most trusted Haibara, was unacceptable. She would feel very uneasy.

Seeing her persistence, even resorting to childish pleas, Haibara sighed and pulled a military knife from the box. "I can only give you this. Casually showing off weapons will cause trouble for the Professor."

"Alright..." She took the military knife, accepting Haibara's arrangement. At the same time, she told herself it was time to relax; after all, this wasn't in the organization, where there were so many dangers.

"Jianhe, now that you've moved in, treat this place as your home," Professor Agasa said, looking at Lin Jianhe sitting on the sofa with her military knife. He approached her with a kind smile. "Professor, I'm all alone, but with Haibara Ai and Jianhe, I'm no longer lonely."

Looking at the white-haired, pot-bellied Professor in front of her, Lin Jianhe paused slightly, then smiled. "Thank you, Professor."

She was genuinely happy, because she knew that whether it was Shiho Miyano or Aiba Yu, they had both found a reliable place to belong.

"Dinner's ready."

That evening, Haibara cooked dinner; it was curry.

She hadn't eaten Haibara's cooking in a long time. She ate several plates with gusto. "It's been so long since I've had Shiho's cooking."

"Watch your stomach." Haibara calmly ate her curry.

"It's really delicious," Professor Agasa, whose appetite was much larger than Lin Jianhe's, was already on his third plate. Then, as if remembering something, he added, "Oh, by the way, how about we invite the children next weekend and go camping together?"

"Count me out," Haibara said, clearing her plate and walking to the sink. "I need to catch up on my experiments, so I won't be going."

"It's not healthy to be stuck in the basement all day! This is camping!" Lin Jianhe had never been camping before and was as excited as a child. "Let's go together, what do you say?"

Seeing her get no reaction, she said sullenly, "Then I'll have the Great Detective and those kids come and call for you."

Hearing this, Haibara sighed and nodded in surrender, "Alright, alright, I'll go."

Although she felt a bit sour, once Shinichi Kudo was brought up, she agreed.

——

Soon it was the day of the camping trip. The group sat in the back seat and arrived at the campsite.

Getting out of the car, Conan looked helplessly at the three excited kids. "Why exactly do I have to go camping with a bunch of kids...?"

"Alright, Great Detective, don't complain." Ai Haibara said, standing in front of the trunk.

Then came an exclamation from Professor Agasa.

"Eh?!"

Lin Jianhe suddenly had a bad feeling. The three of them turned around to look at Professor Agasa. "Professor, don't tell me you forgot to bring the tent?"

Professor Agasa looked somewhat helpless: "It... it seems so..."

Accompanied by the disappointed voices of Ayumi and the others, the group had no choice but to drive back as soon as they arrived.

Mitsuhiko complained, leaning against the car window: "Seriously, what a great holiday weekend."

"And now we're lost, aren't we...?"

Ayumi looked at the forest outside the window, dreaming: "In a forest like this, I feel like there would be castles and big lakes!"

"How is that possible?" Conan chuckled dryly.

"It might actually be possible."

Following Haibara's gaze, a huge green castle appeared in the distant forest.

Professor Agasa parked the car outside the castle gate. Genta, while speaking, had already climbed over the fence and was promptly picked up by a gardener. During their conversation, a bearded middle-aged man walked out.

"We are not idlers. After all, I am a somewhat famous scientist," Professor Agasa explained his identity.

Unexpectedly, the castle owner listened with interest and invited them in for a tour. "If you don't mind, please stay here for a night."

"Really?!"

"That's great!"

The children excitedly walked through the main gate, while Lin Jianhe silently followed behind them. At the same time, she noticed international chess pieces placed on the lawn in the castle's front yard, and the lawn was trimmed to resemble a chessboard.

That's quite interesting.

"Wow! What big horses!"

Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta looked up at the chess pieces from below.

"These are knights, pieces from international chess," Ai Haibara explained.

Lin Jianhe also stepped forward, looking at the giant chess pieces with interest: "Even the lawn is trimmed into the shape of a chessboard. This lord has quite good taste."
