Chapter 8 - 8

You just exposed the other two undercover agents. Aren't you worried I'll kill you to silence you?" Frank raised his glass and suddenly asked.

"Of course I came prepared," Su Wei said calmly. "Before coming, I put a sealed tip-off letter with a police academy classmate. If I don't return tonight, he'll hand that letter in."

"Brave, bold, and resourceful, kid. You're going to have a wonderful future." Frank patted Su Wei's shoulder, pulled out a phone from his pocket, and handed it to him.

"Alright, from now on, we'll contact each other by phone. No need to meet again."

Su Wei took the phone, didn't even look at it, and shoved it directly into his pocket.

"I've been here long enough. I'm heading back now."

With that, he suddenly picked up the empty glass and smashed it against his forehead. The glass cut his skin, and blood flowed out.

Looking at the surprised Frank, Su Wei grinned and said, "No one who's been entertained by Frank leaves without bleeding, you know. I don't want to be suspected."

---

Over the next quarter, Su Wei, who had just donned his uniform, became the luckiest police officer in the Massachusetts Police Department.

On his first patrol on the highway, he encountered a suspect who had just committed a burglary and was fleeing. The suspect knocked out his partner police officer, and finally surrendered at Su Wei's gunpoint.

On the way back from duty, he encountered a supermarket robber. The robber injured his partner, and was eventually knocked down by Su Wei.

While eating at a fast-food restaurant, he ran into a wanted fugitive. With both wisdom and courage, he arrested the fugitive without injuring any civilians.

He went to the restroom and found a package of drugs... He was either performing a meritorious service or on his way to performing one.

Finally, his superior stated that Su Wei was more suited to plain clothes, and he was promoted exceptionally, joining the Special Operations Team.

Su Wei walked into the Massachusetts Police Department in a suit for the first time. As soon as he entered the main door, he saw a potential client he had been looking for.

"Hey, Colin!"

Colin looked at his police academy friend in disbelief. In just a few months, his friend had transformed from a uniformed police officer into a plainclothes police officer.

It was like a dream.

"Lucky boy, your luck is truly amazing."

Colin gave Su Wei a big hug. Now Su Wei was a celebrity in the police department, with a new nickname: Lucky Boy.

"I am lucky enough, otherwise I wouldn't have survived until now," Su Wei said with a helpless smile.

These cases were all based on information provided by Frank. Some were easy, while others were extremely dangerous. Su Wei suspected that Frank was intentionally giving him tests.

The body Su Wei copied only had slightly better physical fitness than an ordinary person. His ability to survive intact until now was entirely due to the system's gift of an undamaged body.

"Your luck isn't bad either. The detective results should be out soon, right? Joining the Special Investigation Team?" Su Wei lightly punched Colin's chest. "Don't forget me then."

Currently, both of them are in the Special Operations Team, which is the state police's military force, responsible for assisting the Special Investigation Team in arresting suspects. They do not have the right to solve cases themselves.

The next level up is to be promoted from officer to detective, which grants the right to solve cases.

In the American police system: after a case occurs, uniformed officers receive the report or are called to the scene. Depending on the severity of the case, detectives will be dispatched to the scene. The detective's responsibility is to conduct further investigations based on clues. Once there is a suspect, plainclothes police assist the detective in operations. Therefore, after an officer receives a report, the investigation of the case is handled by the detective, and plainclothes police are responsible for assisting in operations.

"Of course, we're the best partners." Colin's gaze shifted to a beautiful female police officer walking by, and he replied absently.

"Are you free after work? Come with me to look at houses." Su Wei inwardly disdained Colin's aesthetic; he couldn't take his eyes off anyone with large breasts and a shapely behind.

"A drink after work? Okay... Wait, look at houses?" Colin withdrew his gaze in confusion.

"Yeah, the place I used to live was too far from the police station, so I plan to move near City Hall. I've found a house I like and want to buy it," Su Wei said in a relaxed tone, as if buying a house was a small matter for him.

Colin was even more puzzled. From what he knew, his friend came from a very poor family and couldn't afford a house in the city center at all.

He wanted to ask more, but at that moment, the captain suddenly called a meeting, so he could only put it aside for now.

After work,

Colin arrived at a high-end apartment building based on the address Su Wei sent him. Wasn't this the apartment he wanted to rent?

As soon as he reached the door, he heard a real estate agent's incessant voice, "This house is beautiful. The ceilings are very high, all solid wood floors, and the bathroom is also very large, you can bring a few female companions and it won't be crowded. There's an alarm on the refrigerator in case you choke while eating, just kidding."

"Colin, come in quickly and help me look at this apartment." Su Wei greeted him enthusiastically. He had been perfunctorily dealing with the real estate agent, just waiting for Colin to arrive to give his friend a spiritual cleansing and utterly defeat him.

The first thing that caught Colin's eye when he entered was City Hall outside the window. The golden dome of City Hall was his favorite view, and he hoped to rise through the ranks one day and become a true member of the upper class. This was simply his dream residence.

He had passed by here before and had the idea of renting a place, but after inquiring about the rent, he temporarily abandoned the idea, deciding to wait until he was promoted to detective before renting.

The real estate agent was skilled at reading people. He had introduced the property to Su Wei for a long time without a decision, but this newly arrived friend of the client was clearly very satisfied with the environment. Adding fuel to the fire would mean an additional advocate.

"Alright, that joke wasn't funny just now. From here, City Hall and Beacon Hill are clear as day. If you two move in, you'll immediately become part of Massachusetts's upper class."

"Colin, what do you think?"

"So beautiful!" Colin was lost in his dream of success.

"Give me the contract, I'm buying this apartment," Su Mo said grandly.

"Wow. That's a great decision!" The real estate agent was ecstatic and quickly pulled out the contract.

Su Mo signed quickly and handed over a check.

"This apartment belongs to you, sir." The real estate agent left the keys with Su Mo and quickly departed.

"You really bought this house? How do you have so much money?"

When Colin came to his senses, he had already seen Su Mo become the owner of his dream house, completely disbelieving.

Although he and Su Mo were good friends, he had always been better than him, so he had a sense of superiority.

This sense of superiority lasted until they graduated from the police academy. He became a plainclothes police officer with excellent grades, while the other had average grades and wore a uniform.

He enjoyed this sense of superiority. He needed someone to witness his success.

But now, in just a few months, the other had also become a plainclothes police officer, catching up to his footsteps.

And now, he had even bought his dream residence.

Colin's last shred of superiority was also cleared by Su Wei.
