Chapter 7 - Sandara’s Father – Park Yoo

Meanwhile...

Sandara angrily opened her phone and checked it one more time.

The sky was almost starting to darken. The sun was preparing to yield its place to the moon that followed the blood-red sky.

Finally, Sandara angrily took her phone and smashed it against the wall, breaking it into pieces.

That little bastard Leo actually dared to ignore her message for three hours.

Sandara decided to beat him up at the first opportunity, thinking that this was the first time someone had acted so boldly against her.

Just then, the door of Sandara's room opened rapidly, and a muscular man, two meters tall, entered.

Even the arms exposed by his T-shirt were covered in knife scars—this was Sandara's father, Park Yoo.

He had heard the sound when Sandara angrily threw her phone against the wall and came here.

When Sandara saw her father, she understood what she had done.

Now she had to give her father an explanation. Even though her father generally preferred to spoil her, he didn't do it like a fool. If he learned that she had broken her phone for no reason, he wouldn't buy her a new one.

Upon this, Sandara's mind raced, and she began to think of a way out.

Park Yoo saw his daughter silent and with her head bowed, thought for a moment, and decided not to pressure her. Of course, the fact that he needed to know what happened here didn't change. He just had to do it without hurting his daughter.

Just as Sandara was about to speak, Park Yoo told her that dinner would be ready soon and that she should give an explanation during the meal, then turned around and left.

While Sandara decided to spend the time she gained to make a better plan, Park Yoo sighed as he passed a photo of his wife and Sandara in the hallway.

In this photo, Sandara is only two years old, and Park Yoo is an ordinary soldier in the special forces, but everyone in the family in the photo is smiling.

Park Yoo picked up his wife's photo, looked at it for a while, and sighed, returning to the kitchen while thinking about how difficult it was to raise a daughter alone.

For someone like him, who trained an entire special forces army, his little girl's problems were as insignificant and small as a fly's wing, but as a father, he knew he had to deal with these trivial problems as if he were facing the end of the world.

After Park Yoo prepared the meal and called his daughter, they sat down to eat together.

Park Yoo was proud of the meals he cooked as a good chef, but seeing that his daughter wasn't eating anything, he realized that the approaching problem was inevitable.

After Park Yoo placed his fork and knife on the table, there was an awkward silence at the table for a while.

Park Yoo, a self-proclaimed expert in human psychology, patiently waited, knowing that the silence would soon make his daughter speak.

"She probably couldn't get a nail polish she wanted again, or she broke her phone because she got too angry while playing a game, Sandara," he thought.

However, this time he didn't hear anything like what he expected from Sandara. The first sentence that came out of Sandara's mouth caused Park Yoo's pupils to shrink and his heart rate to quicken.

"Dad, Leo keeps ignoring me. What should I do? Doesn't he love me anymore?"

It was not easy for Sandara to ask this question because it would somewhat damage her position as her father's innocent daughter, but eventually, Sandara gritted her teeth and started talking.

After all, she was no longer a little innocent girl. She was a university student now. Besides, this was a good opportunity to test her father's attitude. This way, she could learn how her father would react if she got a boyfriend in the future.

In Park Yoo's inner world, different images of his daughter from childhood until today appeared and shattered into pieces.

For a father who raised his daughter alone, learning that his daughter has a boyfriend can be as devastating for some fathers as learning that his wife has a secret lover.

Especially if this person is someone who dedicated his life to protecting his homeland and then returned home for some reason and directed all his protective instincts toward his little girl.

A soldier becoming stateless and a father losing his daughter...

Two great spears of pain plunged into the middle-aged man's heart, and a single tear appeared in the dusty corners of his eyes without him even noticing.

And then, the stream of memories flowing non-stop in this old man's heart began to distort.

First, the pain he experienced while serving in the military due to a lower-ranked soldier and his general relative came to his mind.

Then, he recalled a memory where a battalion of soldiers he had trained with difficulty was killed by a group of bandits because of the vulnerabilities in the attack plan of someone who had risen to his rank using connections.

The moment the old man frowned due to the disloyalty that emerged in his heart, he began to remember the absurd things his daughter had asked him since her childhood.

Dad! My phone is broken! Dad! A girl in my class called me a donkey! Kill her! Dad, what does gay mean?

Park Yoo's head began to fill with the pains he experienced while trying to be a father, and the man suddenly smiled uncontrollably.

Fortunately, as a former special warfare unit commander, he suppressed his smile before his daughter noticed.

Maybe it's not so bad that my daughter has a boyfriend. After all, she chose her boyfriend herself, so I didn't force her like a bad father. If I give my daughter's boyfriend a little lesson about what he'll face if he hurts my daughter, I think there will be no problem left. In the future, my daughter will go to her boyfriend's side at every opportunity like other girls, and I can finally learn what real retirement is like. Haha, I shouldn't go too far while teaching my daughter's boyfriend a lesson; if he breaks up with her because of me, my daughter will be unhappy. I'll be unhappy too, of course, but that's not as important as my daughter's feelings. Kekeke. I hope you've done your military service, son. No, wait, if he's done his military service, he's either dropped out of school or is too old. What if my daughter likes an old man? What nonsense am I talking about? Is such a thing even possible?

"DAD!"

Park Yoo immediately snapped out of it at his daughter's angry voice and narrowed his eyes at his daughter. It was as if his eyelids were trying to hide a terrifying killing intent.

Of course, all of this was Park Sandara's imagination.

"Where does this worthless bastard who calls himself a boyfriend live!?"
