I waved her off dramatically. "You know what I mean!"
Sir Jin muttered, "The forest spirits will guide the king's forces… perhaps."
Chubby added, "OR PERHAPS THEY WILL DIE HORRIBLY."
"CHUBBY—NOT. NOW."
With that, we stepped out into the open forest again.
The sun hit my face. The air smelled of moss and freedom. And death. And burnt spider guts.
But mostly freedom. I squared my shoulders. "Alright," I muttered, adjusting my bamboo sunglasses like a sass goddess. "Let's go save the south before something ELSE ugly crawls out of the water."
