Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 The Change

A loud pounding noise is all I hear. I blink up at the ceiling. Why am I on the couch? Memories of my failed movie night come back to me. I can't believe I fell asleep so quickly. I blush as I recall that dream. I don't think I've ever had one that vivid. The pounding that woke me sounds again and I recognize it as someone at the front door. I stretch, letting out a yawn, then pull myself up. A quick adjustment of my clothing, my tank top has ridden up quite a bit, and I head the front door.

Being the not so smart person that I am, I don't look before opening the door. Luckily for me, it's only Jace. He hands me a thermos and pushes past me.

"Did you just wake up?" I follow him into the living room to see him looking around confusedly.

"Yeah. You woke me, actually." I open the thermos to find orange juice. "What's with the orange juice, Jace? You know I don't like citruses."

"Trust me, you need it." He looks me up and down. "You look... well rested. Sleep well?"

I sit down on the couch, setting the thermos on the coffee table. He sits next to me.

"I guess. I had a very...intense dream." He arches an eyebrow at me.

"Oh really? Was I in it?" I throw my legs over his lap.

"You wish. But it was what you're thinking. And guess what?"

"You've realized that I'm the love of your life and want to run away with me to the Land of Oz where we'll adopt a bunch of munchkins after defeating the Wicked Witch?"

I laugh. "No. Although that sounds fun. Mr. Masters was in my dream. And you'll never guess what happened." He blinks at me. A dull throbbing starts at the base of my skull. I do my best to ignore it.

"He bit your neck and drained you of blood?"

I chuckle. "No. He made me have one epic orgasm."

If I wasn't looking into his eyes like I am I would have never notice the slight widening of them. Here's the thing, I'm not a virgin. I've done my fair share of exploring. But I typically don't feel a whole lot. I mean, obviously I feel something or I wouldn't do it all. But I don't usually feel the toe curling sensations you read about. And I've never orgasmed. I've gotten to the point that I believe that I'm one of those girls who just don't. Jace has been trying for a while to help me figure it out, so that news that I did in my dream says something. The headache is getting worse and seems to have moved to right behind my eyes.

"Drink the juice, Ana. And have you eaten?"

I lean towards the table and pick up the thermos, unscrewing the lid and taking a drink.

"I told you, you woke me up. So no."

He pushes my feet off of him and stands up. "I'll make you something." I stand up to follow him.

"Jace you know I can't eat as soon as I woke up. It's bad enough you're making drink this orange juice. Relax please." He's already at the refrigerator and I head towards him, intending on pulling him back to the couch. I'm close enough to reach up to grab his arm when the room suddenly tilts to the side, my head suddenly pounding in time with my heart.

"Woah..."

Jace turns and quickly catches me before I fall over. He doesn't say anything, just scoops me up into his arms and carries me into the living room.

As soon as my back hits the couch my head seems to explode. My vision goes black and my chest hurts. What is happening? I let out a groan and attempt to curl up in a ball but my body decides to spasms instead.

"Ana, can you hear me?" Jace whispers near my face. I nod. Or at least, I think I do.

"Good. Don't fight whatever you're feeling, okay? It's going to hurt, but don't fight it." What? What is he talking about? Fight what?

Just as I finish the thought I find out what he meant. Fire, starting at my neck, seems to spread through my veins and throughout my entire body. It doesn't seem to be letting up either, after the initial spreading the fire seems to get worse in intensity. At this point I can't focus on anything but this pain.
