Age 767. December.
"Chichi. It's a boy." A large burly man said as he held a small child in his hands.
"He is healthy. But the doctor said that you have to rest for a few days so that your body can recover." The burly man said.
"Dad. Can you bring him to me so that I can see his face?" The woman said as she lay on her bed.
"Here. Chichi." The burly man said as he gently handed the small child to Chichi.
"He looked just like his father," Chichi said while smiling.
"Have you thought of a name?" The burly man asked.
"Goten. Son Goten." She said.
******
Goten. I think I have heard the name before. The baby thought to himself as he looked at the woman called Chichi.
Wait. Son Goten. Chichi. No way. Am I reincarnated in the world of Dragon Ball as Goten, the son of Son Goku? The baby was shocked.
How did I even die in my last life? And why this world? What about my previous life? My parents. He was conflicted.
Wait who was I in my last life? Why can't I seem to recall it? The baby thought in his mind.
"Hey. He seems to be thinking about something." The burly man said to Chichi when he saw that the baby who was named Goten, seemed to be preoccupied with something.
"Who am I kidding, kids that are that young cannot think about anything with the little underdeveloped brains of theirs." The muscular burly man said.
"You can't say that for sure. I mean Gohan was accepted to the Orange Star High School and is on the right path to become a well-respected scholar. Who knows, my little Goten might be a famous philosopher in the future." Chichi said.
"Maybe he will become a martial artist like his father." The burly man said.
Chichi's smiling face started to frown immediately when she heard those words.
"Being a martial artist is dangerous. Gohan almost died and my Goku is also not on Earth anymore. I am not letting little Goten walk the same path as him." Chichi said.
"Fine, I understand Chichi. You don't have to be that mad, you have to take care of your body." The burly man said to her.
He was her father called the Ox King. The father-in-law of Son Goku the person who saved the world.
And the grandfather of Son Gohan who also achieved the same feat as a teenager.
From what I remember Goten never achieved those feats and didn't even come close to Goku and Gohan in terms of strength. The baby thought in his mind.
He then realized also despite not remembering much about his former life there is one thing he remembers. He is not a big fan of physical exercise.
So Goten thought that he probably would not fare much better than the original Goten that he knew about.
After all, why would he train hard to become strong when he knows there is a legendary warrior who is always striving to become stronger who will always protect him and the people that he cares about?
*****
Age 774.
Seven years have passed since Goten was born.
Despite being reborn Goten knew nothing from his past life other than how his current life was going to play out in the future.
A few things he knew about his previous life were that he should be quite young when he died or moved on from his last life as he is still fascinated by cartoons, toys, and sweets.
In fact, he is quite immature for a person who was reincarnated.
He doesn't seem to retain knowledge from his last life other than the story of Dragon Ball. Meaning he has to learn things such as how to read and write from scratch.
"Why do I have to do this?" Goten complained as he looked at the book in front of him.
Chichi forced him to learn how to write difficult kanji words to help him prepare for school.
Although she said she would support him in any path he chooses she also emphasized that he has to finish school.
"Mom. Can I take a break? I have already studied for hours." Goten asked Chichi.
"Goten. What did I tell you about manners?" She said to him.
"Please." He said.
"That's my little angel." She said as he rubbed his hair.
"You looked just like your father. Why did he have to follow that path? Why did he think that the Earth would be safer without him around?" She said while having a sad look in her eyes.
"Goten. How about you come with me for a second?" She said as she got up.
"Sure, Mom," Goten replied as he followed her.
Goten then saw her tying her hair and walking out of the house.
"Mom. What are we doing?" He asked.
"We are going to practice some sparring." She said.
"Sparring," Goten said in confusion.
I don't get it. Shouldn't she hate martial arts? He thought in his mind.
"Mom. Don't you hate sparring? You always scold Gohan whenever he talks about martial arts." Goten asked.
"I don't hate martial arts. I used to be one and your grandfather was also one. I just dislike the fact that sometimes your father and brother get a bit too carried away and become delinquents." She said.
"If I hated martial arts I would not have married your father in the first place." She said while reminiscing about her past.
"And I think that learning how to defend yourself is important. So that you won't get bullied when you start going to school." Chichi said to Goten.
"Starting today I am going to train you so that you can defend yourself. But remember you can never become a delinquent. I am going to lose my mind if my little Goten also becomes a delinquent." She said as she put her hands on Goten's shoulders.
