I entered the city to spend a night in a hotel and go look for my friend early in the morning. When I stepped into the hotel, I saw something unexpected: the boss and his daughter were there too.
I quickly pulled my hat down over my head, then walked toward the reception to get a room. The boss stared at me carefully and said:
"You… you look familiar."
I said, "You must be mistaken."
The boss ordered:
"Take off his hat!"
I resisted, but the workers grabbed me and pulled off my hat. Suddenly, my face was revealed—
the same miserable employee who always got beaten up.
The boss shouted with disgust:
"You filthy trash! Do you have to appear everywhere I go?! Listen… you're not even allowed to get a room here, because your presence makes everything dirty! You bring misfortune with you!"
Rage flared inside me. My eyes filled with hatred, my lips trembled as I whispered:
"I won't forgive… I won't forgive… I'll kill all of you… first torture, then death!"
The workers beat me and threw me outside.
Burning with the fire of revenge, I said, "Just wait a few more days, my friend… after I finish my revenge, I'll come to you." Then I headed straight toward my hideout: The Labyrinth.
A place only I knew. A place where my revenge would begin.
The sound of my demonic laughter echoed through the darkness.
The Labyrinth was the place I had built to improve my skills. I had the Level Appraisal skill.
Without a shred of fear, I entered the Labyrinth, because I knew all its paths and secrets like the back of my hand. Suddenly, an A‑rank monster appeared before me.
I smiled, pulled out my dagger, and with a single strike to the monster's left eye, I brought it down.
Again, the glowing XP window appeared, but no points were added. I didn't care. I continued walking, cutting down every A‑rank monster like they were leaves, without losing even a drop of HP.
At last, I reached the gate of the King of the Labyrinth—
a massive door covered in gems and gold.
I ripped out the eye of the guard standing before it and placed it into a slot in the door. The door opened with a thunderous sound.
The King of Giants (the Black Giant)
The king said:
"So you managed to get past my powerful guardians…"
A devilish smile spread across Yagami's face.
The king roared in anger:
"You insolent fool! How dare you smile in front of your king?!
You're not even worth me using my true power to crush you!"
He raised his sword to strike, but he didn't know that this man had already defeated him once before.
The man dodged quickly, rushed toward his legs, and made a small cut with his dagger on the king's foot.
The king growled furiously:
"How dare you mock me?! I'll finish you with a single blow!"
He gripped his sword tightly—
but suddenly the blade fell from his hands.
Blood gushed from his mouth and eyes.
He collapsed and said in a trembling voice:
"How… how is this possible…? How did you know my weakness…?
You were just a worthless human…
I shouldn't have underestimated you…"
His vision blurred.
The last thing he saw was Yagami's demonic, hatred-filled smile.
The man stepped forward, opened the king's forehead, and said with a terrifying laugh:
"From now on… only fear and despair await you!"
