"Just in case, you need to prepare a diluted vaccine for us." Bai Mu pressed down on the metal briefcase.
Wilford paused slightly: "You weren't affected by the virus... Okay, I'll prepare it."
He suddenly remembered something and quickly asked, "Are you interested in virus enhancement? If so, we can go to Lab 3. It wasn't damaged, and I can use the equipment there to create a suitable enhanced virus."
Matt crossed his arms and sneered: "Don't joke around. If it were as simple as you say, wouldn't you use something like this?"
He, like Gunslinger Eller, wanted the opportunity to become extraordinary, but he also knew very well that strangers wouldn't readily share truly valuable things!
Just like making money, if it were really easy to make a lot of money, why haven't the people who boast about it become rich? Why do they waste their breath trying to deceive people? Isn't deceiving people exhausting?
"You're different. Your resistance is stronger, and you can resist the side effects of the virus. With blood samples and the neutralization of the vaccine, we can customize an enhancement agent. The effect is weaker than enhancement using the original virus solution, but it's safer."
Wilford added regretfully, "Unfortunately, even this safe method isn't safe for most people. If it fails, an overdose of vaccine is needed to remedy the situation, and then there's no chance to receive the virus enhancement again."
Matt seemed interested. Seeing Bai Mu still pondering, he looked at Thorn.
"Captain Thorn, we don't want to miss this opportunity. Since this virus has appeared once, it might return a second time. If that happens, Captain Thorn, just contact us, and we'll do everything we can to help." "
To Lab Three." Thorn sighed.
"Dilution of the vaccine won't take too long. In the meantime, you can clear out those zombies." Wilford pointed to the monitor screen; the recent explosion had attracted many zombies.
"We'll go clear them out. Captain Thorn, you keep an eye on him."
"Be careful." Thorn nodded to Bai Mu; he had always felt Wilford was dishonest.
"That guy's lying to us." After leaving the lab, Gunman Eller whispered, "He did so much, but the focus was always on Thorn. We were just side effects. All that talk was just to sow discord between us and Thorn."
"But he doesn't know we're not even from here." Matt sneered. Wilfer had indeed fooled them at first with knowledge they didn't know.
Bai Mu was thinking about the box: "Does this lab really have such a complete set of equipment?"
Matt asked curiously, "Hmm? How so?"
"This is just a lab, with bombs and those sensors. Is this lab legitimate?"
"That guy is bluffing, but he has something to rely on." Matt didn't deny Bai Mu's words, but he didn't plan to attack Wilfer immediately. The other party still had what they wanted.
Even if that guy was lying, there had to be some truth in his words. Compared to getting the vaccine and then going to find a zombie to scratch himself, Wilfer's method was more reliable.
"Let's clear out the zombies first."
Bai Mu raised his gun and began clearing out the zombies outside.
Bai Mu had absolutely no interest in the virus enhancement Wilfer mentioned. Things involving that were mostly a matter of luck. As for the custom-made enhanced virus Wilfer spoke of, it might be true.
But what if it was fake?
Bai Mu felt that choosing a martial arts manual that might lead to demonic possession was a better option than a virus.
In Laboratory Three, Bai Mu and his group were already familiar with the place. It was like returning to their own home. After clearing out the zombies, this would be their temporary safe house.
Every underground laboratory in Great Bear City was similar, only their research focused on different areas, so not all laboratories had vaccines.
Whether that was true or not, only Wilfer knew.
"This is the custom-made enhancement potion," Wilfer said the next day, taking out the prepared potion. "Although the enhancement is only half of Thorn's, it's safer."
"Safe?" Thorn scoffed. If it were safe, Great Bear City wouldn't have fallen.
Bai Mu looked at the potion in his hand and put it away.
Matt's gaze darkened slightly. According to Wilfer, this thing was made for a specific person only. It was safe for the person who commissioned it to use, but for others to use it would be more dangerous than the virus carried by ordinary zombies.
The zombie virus mutates people, but this stuff kills them.
"You're not planning to take this out and sell it for money, are you?" Wilford looked at Bai Mu with some confusion.
Thorn and the others also looked over.
Bai Mu shook his head, glancing at the two different boxes beside Wilford. One contained the vaccine, and the other research data on the vaccine and the virus.
"I'll only use it after I get the complete vaccine. I don't trust you now." As he spoke, Bai Mu seemed to remember something, giving Wilford a somewhat frightening smile: "And to ensure the vaccine you mentioned is effective, I plan to conduct a trial."
"What are you planning to do!?"
What are you planning to do?
"You're targeting me." Looking at the wound on his arm, Wilford cursed as he cleaned it; it was a scratch made by a zombie's fingernail.
Yesterday, if Bai Mu had done this, Matt and the others would likely have tried to stop him. Now that they had what they wanted, they tacitly approved of Bai Mu's actions.
Two hours later, Wilford said, both annoyed and smug, "See? I'm perfectly fine. The vaccine is absolutely effective!"
"Captain Thorn, I want to take that guy out."
While clearing the zombies outside with Thorn, Bai Mu bluntly stated, casually handing Thorn the enhancement serum. This thing, though called an enhancement serum, was actually still a virus.
"Why?" Thorn looked at Bai Mu with a complicated expression. He had also become somewhat suspicious of Bai Mu when Wilford said that.
"That guy is too cunning. If I take him out, he'll definitely live a more comfortable life than he does now. I can't stand to see that happen."
"...Find an opportunity. I've investigated several labs. They're all pretty much the same. There shouldn't be any small bombs in them, or even many standard weapons."
Thorn tried to return the enhancement serum Bai Mu had given him, but Bai Mu shook his head.
"I don't believe this virus is that effective, nor do I believe I'm that lucky. That guy targeted me so much, I don't believe him either."
"You…" Thorn looked at Bai Mu's young face and couldn't help but smile. He felt that Bai Mu's last sentence was the real reason he wanted to kill Wilford.
Hmm, maybe he also had to include the fact that the guy was a scumbag.
"Then when we leave, Uncle Thorn, remember to drive towards the area with more zombies."
Thorn frowned slightly: "That's not a good idea."
Bai Mu patted the grenade he was carrying: "I haven't used this thing since I got it!"
"Be careful he doesn't throw it back."
Thorn reminded Bai Mu helplessly. He knew this young man was a novice and prone to making mistakes.
"I'll tie this to him tightly." Bai Mu took out the high-strength straps he had prepared beforehand. These were from a laboratory and were of excellent quality.
Thorn looked at his phone like an old man on the subway. Holy crap, this young man!
"Where did you learn all this?"
"Movies, novels, online videos..."
Thorn interrupted the white screen's narration: "I know, don't sit in the passenger seat when we're driving later."
