As I ran, Nanny Alley rushed after me with her apron still on, but by the time she reached the door, I had already gotten far from the villa. She must have thought I was scared of something, honestly, I was. The moment I stepped outside the gate, I saw several of Captian's men standing guard. "Good morning, ma'am!" they greeted respectfully the instant they saw me. All of them were armed, guns, holsters, the usual equipment I'd seen countless times but today, the sight made my chest tighten. The thought of being thrown abroad to disappear suddenly spun in my head again, and I felt my legs weaken. My nerves, already stretched thin, snapped all at once. I swallowed hard, took a small step back, then immediately turned around and bolted.
...
The underlings stood there, bewildered.
Was their appearance really so terrifying that it scared their sister-in-law away?
Oh God, if President Anderson finds out, they'll be thrown into a ditch to be dealt with!
"Where's sister-in-law?" Ronan came out with a cigarette in his mouth. He looked around but didn't see any sign of Rosy.
The underlings gloomily looked at Ronan.
"She just ran off… it looked like she was really frightened."
It couldn't be that she was scared because of their looks, right?
"Ran off? Frightened?" Ronan flicked off the ash of his cigarette. Suddenly, he sensed something was wrong. Rosy didn't seem to be in a good mood yesterday… Could the stuff on Facebook have pushed her into despair?
People who are depressed easily think irrationally.
Could it be that Rosy wanted to commit suicide?
Ronan was so terrified that the blood in his veins froze. His legs trembled, unable to support him. He quickly pulled out his phone and only managed to dial the number after several attempts.
"Hello?"
Hearing the cold voice on the other end, Ronan grabbed onto it like a lifeline and shouted:
"Bad news, President Anderson! Sister-in-law just ran off, she might be going to kill herself!"
On the other end of the line, Captain frowned slightly. His deep, dangerous eyes were like a brewing storm slowly sweeping inside. He hadn't returned to the villa last night, and now something this serious happened?
Suicide? Her?
"No matter what method you use, you must bring her back." Captain practically roared before hanging up. His eyes were blood-red, veins bulging on his forehead, he looked extremely dangerous.
Wearing a black coat, Captain silently walked out of his office. When he passed by, it felt like a gust of wind had swept through the hallway.
Rosy only wanted to ease the fear in her heart. She had no idea Ronan had imagined an entire tragic scenario of her attempting suicide and even worse, he had told Captain.
Now the boss was coming to capture her!
...
I ran for a long stretch of road before finally stopping, gasping for air. Only when I looked at the crowd moving along the street did I realize how small and insignificant I was among so many people. I clutched the backpack on my shoulders, suddenly feeling lost. Would running out like that cause any trouble? Probably not. It was just like stepping out for some fresh air.
I didn't intend to escape or anything. I let out a breath of relief as my mood slowly lifted, and I decided to head back to campus. I had just stood up when a sharp burst of honking erupted behind me, loud enough to shake the dust off the ground. Startled, I turned around and nearly died on the spot. Five or six cars were barreling toward me, with one Rolls-Royce in the middle that looked painfully familiar. Captian's car. I stared at it, feeling the blood in my body instantly freeze. My limbs trembled like thin leaves caught in a storm. Was this a coincidence or had he come here on purpose? If it was on purpose, then he must have come to drag me back… and then throw me abroad to fend for myself. Standing beside the fountain, I felt the sunlight exposing my pale face even more, fear draining every last drop of color from me. Then the window rolled down. Captian's strikingly handsome face came into view sharp like a blade, but his expression was as dark as the bottom of a pit. He looked furious, murderous even.
"Get over here. Now." His voice was a low snarl, cold and heavy, like a sword tip pressed against my throat.
My breath hitched. Terror swallowed me whole; despair and panic crashed together in my chest. At that moment, I was certain he really was going to ship me out of the country. Why else would he look so enragedlike a beast about to tear something apart? Instinct took over. I dropped my backpack and bolted, running without a single thought.
I was terrified truly terrified.
...
Seeing her small figure disappear right before his eyes, Captain's pupils shrank. The violence inside him surged like crashing waves.
Did this woman really want to kill herself that badly? Not even a hint of hesitation?
Ronan, sitting in the driver's seat, was also tormented. He cautiously glanced at Captain and asked in a low voice,
"President Anderson, aren't you going after her? Aren't you afraid sister-in-law will do something drastic?"
Captain slammed the car door in irritation and roared,
"Chase her! All of you, go after her! Tie her up if you have to and bring her back!"
Hearing the order, Ronan quickly led the group of underlings in pursuit.
Captain remained in the car, his expression still as dark and vicious as before. He clenched his fists tightly. Even with sunlight shining directly on his face, the coldness surrounding him didn't fade in the slightest.
He stared fixedly at the long street ahead. Not long after, he could no longer endure it. He opened the door and stepped out.
He would personally retrieve that disobedient woman!
