Mei lifted her head, looking at Liliana with watery eyes.
"Liliana, you're so kind!"
10 p.m.
Mei finally got off work.
Dragging her exhausted body back to her rental room, she opened the door and muttered weakly:
"I'm home…"
A man was quietly sitting on the sofa, scrolling through his phone, the living room lights fully on.
Mei jolted.
"Why aren't you asleep?"
Otis looked up at her.
"It's stuffy in the room. I came out here to get some air."
Mei staggered toward him like a zombie and flopped onto the sofa, flattening herself out like a piece of paper.
"So tired…"
Otis tilted his head to look at her.
Her sigh stretched on and on until she finally pushed out the next word:
"…too…"
Otis couldn't help but laugh.
Mei instantly jerked her head up, her 3D form restored, baring her teeth at him.
"You just laughed at me, didn't you?! Unbelievable!"
Otis turned away and resumed looking at his phone.
"No, you're imagining things."
Mei growled in indignation.
