Actually, Mei didn't intend to tell Otis she didn't want him to worry but when Otis asked her about her running result, she figured he was just teasing her.
"How'd you do in the 800 meters this time, Mei?"
Even hearing him call it "our house" made her feel giddy. Mei answered shyly, "Not very well…"
Otis said, "As long as you passed, that's fine."
Mei cleared her throat. "It's not that… I actually twisted my ankle, so I have to be rechecked next week."
Then Otis's voice suddenly shot up a few decibels. "What, you twisted your ankle?!"
Mei scratched her face bashfully. "Uh… the running track on campus has a bumpy spot. I forgot about it after one lap and twisted my ankle, then fell flat hehe." She gave a silly little laugh to hide her embarrassment.Otis immediately asked, "Is it serious? Where are you?"Mei looked around. "Should be okay. I'm sitting in the stadium stands. Don't come, I'll rest a while then go to the school clinic."
