Evelin's POV
"I wouldn't joke about something like this," Jimmy said, his lips barely parting. In those dark eyes, I could see my own reflection staring back. "Evelin, I'm not sure if what I feel truly counts as love, but when you realize you can't lose someone—that's what I call love."
The words hit me like a punch. Did he mean he couldn't lose me?
"Maybe initially, you just intrigued me. You never ran when danger struck, so I wanted you close. But watching you dive into that ocean to save that kid—everything shifted," Jimmy whispered, leaning closer until his face was inches from mine.
"I was terrified. Scared out of my mind about losing you like that. Never want to feel that helpless again. Before I knew what was happening, I was already in the water behind you," he said.
His voice was a low rumble against my ear, those phoenix eyes burning with want. "So give me a shot, Evelin. Be with me. I'll treat you like a queen—give you the world."
