Jimmy's POV
"I'm aware of my condition. Death isn't on my horizon," I stated matter-of-factly.
Allen released a harsh laugh. "Right, you won't kick the bucket, but stem cell donation in your state? That's practically volunteering to sacrifice half your existence. All for Evelin, who abandoned you? Does that make sense?"
"It makes perfect sense," I answered without pause. "And she never abandoned me."
Never once. Whenever danger found me, she appeared—from childhood through this very moment.
"How can you claim she didn't abandon you? Fine, she didn't leave you in those flames, but you risked everything for her rescue. Consider it settled!" Wallace snapped back.
I traced my fingers along the emerald and sandalwood beads circling my wrist.
"Wallace, we've never kept tabs on each other. She's always been my savior," I said softly.
Wallace's brow creased. "What's that supposed to mean?"
