Evelin's POV
"So you're Evelin," Gregory stated with measured calm. "Ever since I learned you rescued Jaxson in Thornvale, even taking a bullet for him, I've been eager to meet you."
I held his stare without flinching. Despite being older, the family resemblance to Jaxson was unmistakable. Anyone looking at them would assume they were father and son.
Gregory probably looked exactly like Rex when he was young, I realized.
"The Thor family doesn't owe me any thanks. Protecting my own brother was simply the right thing to do," I replied.
"Your brother?" Gregory's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"We both know what's true. He's Rex—my brother," I said, cutting straight through any pretense.
Gregory shifted his attention to Jaxson. "And you? Do you consider yourself Rex—Evelin's brother? Or do you believe you're Jaxson?"
Jaxson inhaled deeply before responding, "I'm Rex, son of Colin and Jamiya, and Evelin's brother. Even without my memories, that's a fact that can never be altered."
