Evelin's POV
Thorne whipped around toward me, eyes wide. "Evelin, word is you crossed Gregory before—even went after that necklace he's been guarding for years. You've got some guts showing your face around him again. Don't you worry about putting Jaxson in an awkward position?"
She seemed desperate to shift everyone's attention—Gregory couldn't catch sight of that necklace.
I lifted an eyebrow, caught off guard that Thorne knew about all that.
But considering my past run-ins with Gregory, I didn't want to make things harder for Jaxson, so I turned to him. "Jaxson, I'm going to head in first."
"Sounds good," Jaxson agreed with a nod. "I'll catch up with you shortly."
I walked toward the banquet hall with Selina while Jaxson approached Gregory. "Mr. Thor."
Gregory's cold stare fixed on Thorne beside Jaxson. "What's she doing here?"
"Jimmy already walked back his previous statement, so I thought it'd be okay for her to come," Jaxson answered.
