Chapter 58 - Fall

Once everyone reaches the clearing, Sanemi sets up a makeshift camping area while Giyuu distributes water bottles.

"We'll rest here for 30 minutes. Eat something and then we'll head back down."

He takes a seat on a rock, still monitoring the students' activities with a critical eye. A few students sit near Giyuu, some still giggling about the earlier kiss.

"Mr. Tomioka, is Mr. Shinazugawa always this grumpy?"

She asks, clearly testing her luck with Giyuu. Giyuu glances at Sanemi, who's pretending not to listen.

"He's grumpy because he cares. And he's watching you all like a hawk."

He says with a straight face, making the students laugh. Sanemi scowls at Giyuu's comment, throwing a pebble in his direction.

"I can hear you, you know! Stop telling them nonsense!"

The students laugh harder at their banter, finding their dynamic amusing. Giyuu catches the pebble effortlessly and smirks at Sanemi.

"See? Proof of my point."

He tosses the pebble back, hitting Sanemi's shoe. Sanemi stands up abruptly, marching over to Giyuu with a dangerous look in his eyes.

"You're really asking for it today, aren't you?"

He stands directly in front of Giyuu, towering over him with a mix of annoyance and something else. The students lean forward, captivated by the tension between their teachers. Some are even filming again.

"Stop instigating trouble in front of the kids,

or I'll make you regret it."

He whispers threateningly, though there's a hint of playfulness in his tone. Giyuu stands up as well, their faces now inches apart.

"And what exactly are you going to do, Sanemi?"

He challenges, his voice low and teasing, eyes locked with Sanemi's. The moment is interrupted by a sudden scream as a student loses their footing near the edge.

"Shit!"

Sanemi immediately pushes Giyuu aside and rushes to the edge, reaching out to grab the falling student. Giyuu quickly follows, his expression shifting to one of intense concern as he helps Sanemi stabilize the student.

"Everyone back away from the edge! Now!"

He commands in his serious teaching voice, scanning for any other potential dangers. The students scramble back, some crying from the shock of what just happened.

"You okay, kid? Are you hurt anywhere?"

He checks the student thoroughly, his protective instincts in full force as he examines for injuries. The student nods shakily, clutching onto Sanemi's arm.

"I-I think I twisted my ankle..."

Sanemi gently sets the student down, his expression softening with concern.

"We need to get you down the mountain. Giyuu, help me with this."

He looks at Giyuu, all previous tension forgotten in the face of emergency.

"I go alone."

Sanemi's eyes widen in disbelief at Giyuu's suggestion.

"What?! No way! It's too dangerous for just

one person to carry them down."

He argues firmly, already positioning himself to assist. Giyuu shakes his head stubbornly, his expression serious and determined.

"I can get help quicker if something happens. Stay here with the others."

He gestures to the frightened students, who need someone to keep them calm. Sanemi clenches his jaw, clearly not happy about this plan but recognizing Giyuu's point.

"Fine. But you better come back safely, or I'll never forgive you."

He reluctantly steps back, watching Giyuu with intense worry in his eyes. Giyuu carefully lifts the injured student, his movements precise and gentle despite his usual stoic demeanor.

"I'll be back with help. Stay put."

He gives Sanemi one last look before starting the descent, moving with surprising grace and speed down the mountain path. The students watch Giyuu disappear, some still sniffling. Sanemi starts pacing anxiously, checking his watch every few seconds.

"Damn it, Giyuu... hurry up."

He mutters under his breath, his protective nature making him increasingly agitated with each passing minute. Meanwhile, Giyuu navigates the steep trail with the student securely in his arms. The injured ankle causes them both to move slower than he'd like.

"Hang in there. We're almost at the main path."

He reassures the student, his voice steady despite the situation. A sudden rumble echoes through the mountain as loose rocks begin to tumble down the slope, heading straight toward Giyuu and the student.

"Watch out!"

He quickly shifts his body to shield the student, bracing for impact as the rocks crash around them. The rocks hit Giyuu's back and legs, causing him to stumble and lose his footing. He loses his grip on the student, who tumbles down a small incline.

"No!"

He calls out in alarm, struggling to regain his balance while trying to locate the student amidst the falling debris. Giyuu fall down the cliff. The fall is steep and fast, Giyuu's body crashing through branches and underbrush before finally landing hard on the forest floor below. Back at the camp, Sanemi remains unaware of what just happened, still waiting anxiously for Giyuu's return. The main group have to go further and walk a other way down. As evening approaches, Sanemi's worry transforms into full-blown panic. He can't shake the feeling that something terrible has happened.

"Where the hell is he? It's been hours!"

He paces frantically, looking increasingly agitated as darkness begins to fall over the mountain. The students huddle together, sensing the tension. Some are crying again, while others whisper about the possibility of a rescue team.

"I'm going to look for him. Stay put!"

He grabs a flashlight and starts down the same path Giyuu took, determined to find him despite the growing darkness. Sanemi navigates the trail with practiced speed, his heart pounding in his chest as he searches for any sign of Giyuu.

"Giyuu! Can you hear me?!"

His voice echoes through the trees, desperate and angry at the same time. Sanemi continues calling out, his flashlight beam cutting through the darkness. He reaches the spot where the rocks fell.

"Shit... there was a landslide here."

He notices fresh disturbances in the earth and broken branches, indicating something heavy fell through. Sanemi's flashlight catches a glimpse of something blue - Giyuu's uniform. His heart skips a beat as he rushes forward.

"GIYUU!"

He slides down the small incline, dropping to his knees beside the unconscious teacher.

Sanemi frantically checks Giyuu's pulse, finding it weak but present. His hands shake slightly as he examines the visible injuries.

"You idiot... why did you have to play the hero?"

He mutters, carefully lifting Giyuu into his arms with surprising gentleness despite his harsh words. Sanemi secures Giyuu against his chest, noticing the bleeding cuts and bruises on his body.

"I'm taking you to the hospital, you stubborn bastard."

He starts making his way back up the mountain, moving as quickly as possible while carrying Giyuu's weight.

He find the student. He wasn't hurt but can't walk. The student is sitting against a tree, looking relieved to see Sanemi.

"I couldn't find Mr. Tomioka after the rocks fell..."

Sanemi nods, his expression serious as he glances between Giyuu and the student.

"I found him. He's hurt badly.

Can you lean on me?"

The student nods and limps over to Sanemi, who helps support them.

"We need to move. Giyuu needs medical attention immediately."

He starts the grueling journey back to the camp, supporting both Giyuu and the student as they climb. The climb is slow and exhausting, but Sanemi's determination fuels him. He occasionally checks on Giyuu, who remains unconscious.

"Just hold on, both of you."

His voice is strained with effort and worry,

but he refuses to stop. After what feels like hours, they finally reach the camp where the other students are waiting anxiously.

"Mr. Shinazugawa found them!"

The students rush forward but stop when they see Giyuu's condition. Shinobu arrives quickly, her eyes widening at the sight of Giyuu's injuries.

"What happened?!"

She immediately takes charge, assessing the situation with her medical knowledge. Sanemi carefully lays Giyuu down on the ground while explaining what happened.

"He fell down a cliff trying to get the student help. There was a landslide."

Shinobu starts checking Giyuu's vitals, her expression serious. The sound of approaching sirens fills the air as the ambulance arrives. Sanemi stays by Giyuu's side, refusing to leave him.

"I'm going with him. Someone needs

to keep an eye on that idiot."

He snaps at anyone who tries to argue, his protective nature fully activated.
