Jasmin's POV
The waterfall's deafening roar crashed against my eardrums, yet somehow my racing heartbeat managed to overpower even that thunderous sound. I stood paralyzed at the cliff's jagged edge, my eyes locked on the churning waters far below where white foam danced violently against unforgiving rocks. The wind tore at my hair and cloak with savage intensity, while my fists clenched so tightly at my sides that my knuckles had gone white.
"Max," I breathed, the name torn from my lips and immediately swallowed by the merciless wind.
He had actually done it. He had jumped.
My stomach lurched as I watched the angry waters consume every last trace of his impact, leaving nothing but cruel waves that seemed to mock my growing panic.
