Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: A Desperate Plea*

*

Zen's mind was reeling after Alice's revelation. He couldn't shake off the feeling that everything he thought he knew about her was a lie. He tried to focus on his training, but his thoughts kept drifting back to their conversation.

Days turned into weeks, and Zen heard nothing from Alice. He began to wonder if he'd ever see her again. The academy was bustling with activity, but he felt empty, like a part of him was missing.

One evening, as he was walking back to his quarters, he saw a figure lurking in the shadows. The figure stepped forward, revealing a hooded figure who handed Zen a note.

"Meet me at the old windmill on the outskirts of town," the note read. "Come alone."

The note was unsigned, but Zen knew it was from Alice. He felt a surge of emotions - anger, worry, and curiosity.

Without hesitation, Zen made his way to the windmill, his heart pounding in his chest. What did Alice want? And why was she being so secretive?

As he approached the windmill, he saw Alice standing in the shadows, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of fear and determination.

"Zen, I need your help," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm in trouble, and I don't know who else to turn to."

Zen's heart softened at the desperation in her eyes. Whatever was going on, he knew he had to help her.

"What is it, Alice?" he asked, his voice firm. "I'll do whatever it takes to help you."

Alice's eyes locked onto his, and for a moment, Zen saw a glimmer of hope.

"Thank you, Zen," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I'm...I'm being hunted."
