Chapter 69 - Chapter 69

"Enough, Zavasapa. We've got more important things to do.

If you really like this woman that much, just have your way with her already. Why make it so complicated?

Hurry up. We'll give you five minutes. When you're done, make sure you get rid of her.

For now, you just need her to scream."

Daiba was clearly unhappy with Zavasapa's behavior and honestly couldn't understand what he saw in Scylla.

He'd insisted on trying to recruit her before, and even now, at this stage, he still couldn't let it go.

If Zavasapa wasn't so strong, and if the next phase of their operation didn't depend on him, Daiba wouldn't have wanted to work with him at all.

Hearing Daiba's words, Zavasapa actually wavered.

Five minutes was a bit generous. If things went fast, he could enjoy himself two or three times.

Listening to the two of them, Scylla burned with anger.

Did they really think she was that kind of casual woman?

Even if she was, it would have to be on her own initiative. As for Zavasapa, he wasn't even worth considering.

She had originally planned to strike first with a surprise attack, but then she felt a familiar, invisible pressure sweep over the area.

It wasn't aimed at her, yet under that formless pressure, the ground began to crack, and the surrounding buildings were crushed to rubble as if by an unseen hand.

Zavasapa and the other two were stunned for a split second before being forced face-down onto the ground, utterly humiliated.

Scylla didn't need to think about it. The young master had arrived.

She hurriedly put on an even more gravely wounded act, waiting for the young master to come and comfort her.

Unfortunately for her, Doflamingo disappointed her expectations.

Instead of comforting her, he called out from afar,

"Get up, Scylla. No need to pretend. Wounds like these aren't enough to leave you in that miserable a state."

As someone who had personally hammered Scylla into submission, Doflamingo knew exactly how monstrous her regenerative ability was.

Not to mention that right now her aura was steady; the wound looked terrifying, but her body was concealing an astonishing amount of strength.

Knowing she couldn't fool Doflamingo, Scylla dropped the act and stood up directly.

Inwardly, she grumbled that he had no sense of romance.

Under the stunned gaze of the three captains, that massive, gaping wound through her body closed up in an instant, leaving no sign at all of the heavy blow she had taken before.

"Damn you, you dare trick me?! I'll kill you!"

Zavasapa truly lived up to his title as a major North Blue pirate.

Shaking under the crushing oppression of Doflamingo's Haōshoku Haki (Conqueror's Haki) domain, he still forced himself unsteadily to his feet.

He didn't know why, but he couldn't activate his Devil Fruit powers at all. Even so, relying on sheer willpower, he charged at Doflamingo.

"Foolish. Sanjū Kuro Kirin (Triple Black Kirin)!"

Doflamingo did not consider Zavasapa's current move wise in the slightest.

He unleashed three consecutive "Black Kirin."

Three black kirin made of thunder, one per person, stamped down with all four hooves straight into the bodies of the three captains.

"AAAH!" x3

The three had already been half-crushed under the pressure. Their internal organs felt as if they were being ground to paste.

Now Doflamingo's Sanjū Kuro Kirin (Triple Black Kirin) was the final straw that broke the camel's back.

Zavasapa and Kamilong died on the spot, while Daiba was left barely clinging to a single breath.

Their deaths meant nothing to Doflamingo. Their strength was pathetically weak.

Killing Devil Fruit users of that level was child's play to him now.

Withdrawing his Haōshoku Haki domain, Doflamingo told Scylla to find a pair of Seastone cuffs and shackle Daiba.

As for why he didn't kill Daiba, the reason was simple.

Caesar's research on transferring Devil Fruit powers had finally made some progress.

Although he hadn't yet tested it directly on the Wax-Wax Fruit or the Door-Door Fruit, he had already seen signs of success in transferring the power of an insignificant Zoan Fruit into an ordinary fruit.

According to Caesar's own report, the next Devil Fruit, the Wax-Wax Fruit, now had a success rate of over sixty percent.

With odds like that, Doflamingo had no reason not to keep Daiba alive.

Just as Kaido favored Zoan-type Devil Fruits, Doflamingo favored Logias and Paramecias, Logias in particular.

During Scylla's fight with the three captains, Doflamingo had already observed that Daiba was a Logia-type Devil Fruit user.

There was no way he was going to let a Logia power like that slip through his fingers.

Following Doflamingo's instructions, Scylla had Daiba sealed in Seastone cuffs and handed over to the rank-and-file to be guarded, then joined Doflamingo in carrying out a full-scale purge of the Dominic Family.

From four-hundred-year-old giants all the way down to Sisyphus's direct relatives only a few years old, Doflamingo spared none of them. He completely bathed the entire bloodline in blood.

Once the Dominic Family's headquarters had been dealt with, Doflamingo did not linger.

He took Scylla and the other fighters and immediately headed for the next target.

In barely a single morning, Doflamingo wiped out all the largest underworld organizations in the North Blue.

As for whether any new ones would crop up later, Doflamingo's attitude was simple: if they dared show their faces, they could come test whether the Donquixote Family's blades were sharp.

In the Coal Kingdom, the leaders of the great families, unaware that their clans had already been annihilated, were haggling with Enel in a frenzy.

Trebol included.

They were locked in a bidding war, driving the price higher and higher, when Trebol's Den Den Mushi suddenly rang.

Trebol gave Enel a look, then quietly led his men out of the plaza and back to the outer perimeter.

He answered the call. It was Doflamingo's order.

Following the young master's instructions, he ordered his subordinates to ignite all the shells planted around the plaza, while he led the fighters to seal off every direction, ready to cut down anyone who escaped.

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

The sound of explosions thundered again and again.

The people in the plaza snapped out of their daze in an instant. Those closer to the edges were blown to pieces where they stood.

This was where the Coal Kingdom's "specialty" truly showed itself.

Drawn by the artillery blasts, countless explosive embers spat out from the coal seams underground were ignited by the sparks kicked up by the shells.

An endless sea of flame surged up to engulf the entire plaza, throwing everyone trapped within into utter panic.

As their leader, Sisyphus had far greater composure than the rest.

He understood very well that they had fallen into a trap today.

But asking Sisyphus to surrender was impossible.

He had his death-sworn warriors coat their entire bodies in Armament Haki and form a tight wall around him, preparing to carve out a bloody path to survival.

However, Trebol and the others had already made their arrangements.

The moment anyone emerged from the sea of fire, they blasted them with artillery.

Unable to punch through, Sisyphus was forced to stay near the edge of the flaming inferno.

Between the blazing heat and the shelling, even the toughest bodies of his death-sworn warriors couldn't last long.

And that was exactly what happened.

Under relentless bombardment, more and more of the death-sworn fell.

In barely a quarter of an hour, Sisyphus too was consumed by the sea of fire.

Since he was going to die no matter what, Sisyphus tried to make one last move while he still had a few men left, planning to force his way back to the stronghold building.

But there was no way he could match Trebol and the others, who were attacking from positions of calm preparedness.

They were easily cut down.

Of course, it wasn't only underworld figures caught in the sea of fire.

There were many other types of people present as well, and they too were burned and bombarded.

Everyone understood they had walked straight into a trap.

They had just started looking everywhere for the "organizer" Enel when they discovered that he was hovering calmly in the air, cutting down all those who tried to escape skyward.

Everyone cursed Enel as "despicable."

He wasn't leaving anyone alive.

And that was exactly how Doflamingo had planned it.

Anyone who could make it here for such a deal was someone with no small ambition in the North Blue.

Wiping them all out in a single stroke would, at the very least, ensure that for the next few years, there would be no one in the North Blue willing or able to provoke the family or stir up trouble against them.
