Chapter 158: A Good Show
"Great-Great-Grandpa, I don't want to go back! The war is over, I'd rather train with you!" Nawaki-kun said unwillingly.
That's right, the Second Great Ninja War had ended. It couldn't be said to be completely over, but the war between Konoha and the Hidden Sand had concluded with the Hidden Sand's unconditional surrender.
Having lost a pair of genius puppeteers and suffering mounting losses elsewhere, the Hidden Sand Village could finally hold on no longer.
"However, Chiyo must be very sad... Hatred between ninjas is truly hard to resolve," Masahiko sighed. He ignored Nawaki-kun's complaints beside him; he actually had a decent impression of Chiyo.
Previously, to prevent Nawaki-kun from running off to the battlefield and being targeted by those knock-off Six Paths of Pain, Masahiko had spent more than half a year specifically training him.
The current Nawaki-kun had mastered a host of Earth Release ninjutsu: Hiding in Rock Technique, Earth Style Wall, Earth Clone, Multiple Earth-Style Wall... Well, they were all defensive and escape-oriented ninjutsu.
Masahiko did it for his own good. Being targeted by the Six Paths of Pain meant that every extra defense or second delayed could save his life.
Now that the war was over, Masahiko wanted to visit Sakumo, who had earned the title of Konoha's White Fang. After spending the New Year within the clan, Masahiko brought Nawaki-kun back to Konoha as soon as February arrived. Of course, Nawaki-kun threw a small tantrum...
"Stop fussing," Masahiko sighed. "Compared to your sister, you look really ugly when you pout. You're almost 15."
Nawaki-kun gave Masahiko a slightly resentful look but didn't speak.
Before long, Konoha was in sight. After greeting the two gatekeeper ninjas, Masahiko took Nawaki-kun to the Senju clan grounds.
After a brief exchange with Mito, he learned that Kushina-kun wasn't at the Senju compound. Leaving Nawaki-kun with Mito, Masahiko leisurely went to find Sakumo.
Masahiko had never actually been to the Hatake clan grounds. Sensing slightly, he found there were only about twenty or thirty chakra signatures. Just like in the Warring States Period, the Hatake clan wasn't very populous.
Masahiko didn't just walk in directly; he wasn't as familiar with them as with the Senju. After asking the guard to announce him, Sakumo quickly came out to greet him.
"I'm here to congratulate Lord White Fang of Konoha!" Before Sakumo could speak, Masahiko said with a smile.
Sakumo smiled bitterly. "Elder Masahiko, please don't tease me."
Masahiko shook his head. "I'm not teasing you. Your strength is indeed impressive now. Having a title is nothing; there's someone out there who dares to call himself a Demigod."
Masahiko was mocking Hanzo. In his eyes, Hanzo might not necessarily be a match for the Sakumo before him.
Sakumo shook his head and led Masahiko into his home, where a young woman appeared before Masahiko's eyes.
This was the first time Masahiko had met Sakumo's wife. However, as soon as they met, she made him pause.
Sakumo's wife was also from the Hatake clan. She was beautiful and also a Jonin. Although the Hatake clan didn't have many members, their strength was generally quite good.
The reason Masahiko paused was that he sensed another life force within her.
Masahiko froze for a moment, then turned to look at the confused Sakumo and smiled. "Sakumo, you just got a title, and now another happy event is knocking on your door."
Sakumo was stunned. He glanced at his wife, then immediately realized what Masahiko meant. His face lit up with joy, and ignoring Masahiko, he pulled his wife aside, and the two began whispering.
Masahiko didn't mind. He found a chair to sit on and waited quietly for Sakumo to calm down.
About ten minutes later, Sakumo walked over, still showing excitement on his face.
"Have you decided on a name for your son?" Masahiko asked.
Sakumo didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "We don't even know if it's a boy or a girl yet. It might not be a son."
Masahiko shook his head. "It's definitely a son. Let me help you name him. How about Hatake Kakadong?"
Having failed to make "Hatake Kakadong" happen before, Masahiko was still somewhat unwilling to give up, so he prepared to seize the naming rights.
Sakumo hesitated, then nodded. "If it is a boy, Kakadong is fine. Does it mean 'don't be sad'?"
Masahiko was stunned. "What do you mean 'don't be sad'?"
"Didn't you say Kakadong? Kakashi means scarecrow in the fields, implying unknown loneliness and pain. Kakadong is meant to be the exact opposite, right?"
Masahiko's mouth twitched. He really didn't know Kakashi had such a meaning.
"So, in the original story, was it because he was named wrongly that Kakashi lost his father in childhood, his teammates in his youth, and his teacher later? Sakumo, so you were the one who jinxed him..." Masahiko was speechless inside. On what basis did Sakumo come up with the name Hatake Kakashi?
Seeing Masahiko's expression changing constantly, Sakumo asked in confusion, "Elder Masahiko, what's wrong?"
Masahiko waved his hand and gave a thumbs up. "You have real courage."
Ignoring the bewildered Sakumo, he walked straight out of the Hatake clan grounds.
Wandering aimlessly around Konoha, Masahiko wanted to see if he could find Kushina-kun. Since it was February, the Ninja Academy was still on break. Not knowing where Kushina-kun had gone and not wanting to activate the Mind's Eye of the Kagura again—causing a scene every time he came to Konoha wasn't good—he chose to search on foot.
However, after strolling around for most of the loop, Masahiko still hadn't found her.
"Where did she go to play? Did she go find Minato?" Masahiko dreamed happily in his heart.
"Forget it. I'll go back to the Senju clan. Kushina will return eventually."
Just as Masahiko prepared to head back, he suddenly paused, a mischievous thought rising in his mind.
"I wonder what Hiruzen is doing. I heard his Telescope Technique has been developed. Is he peeping at the women's bathhouse?"
Masahiko found a secluded spot and entered Kaguya's Will Mode. He felt he might catch a good show at the Hokage's office and find some amusement.
After diving underground, Masahiko swam through the earth directly toward the Hokage Building.
When it came to concealing one's presence, Black Zetsu was unparalleled.
Hugging the building, Masahiko swam to the side of the Hokage's office and secretly poked his head out. The scene before him made him close his eyes and shrink back.
"What's the situation?" Masahiko had just taken a peek and discovered Danzo was there too. Moreover, the two had their arms around each other's shoulders, pressed tightly together.
"This scene is a bit of an eyesore..." Masahiko gathered his courage and poked his head out again.
They were still in that posture. Masahiko observed carefully; it wasn't some indecent act, but rather they were staring intently at the crystal ball in front of them.
"Oh? Two good buddies peeping at the women's bathhouse together? Is Danzo that kind of person too?"
Masahiko put on a heartbroken expression, but his body was honest. He secretly shifted his angle to see the content in the crystal ball clearly.
A ninja dressed in Cloud Village attire was carrying a red-haired girl on his shoulder, while a golden-haired boy was chasing them with all his might.
Masahiko froze for a long while, then cursed loudly in his heart.
"You guys really showed me a good show..."
