Chapter 79: Senju Tsunade
Inside the Hokage Building.
Masahiko listened with great interest as the First Hokage lectured the Second Hokage on ideology, secretly mocking Tobirama's helpless and submissive appearance.
The lecture lasted for a full half-hour before finally stopping.
Tobirama's expression shifted from indignation to helplessness, and finally to a look of "do whatever you want," which almost made Masahiko burst out laughing. The increasingly serious Second Hokage only showed such expressions in front of Hashirama.
Seeing that Tobirama still seemed unconvinced, Hashirama glared, and a new round of lecturing brewed on his lips. Masahiko helplessly interrupted, laughing, "Tobirama, just admit that you're researching this jutsu so you can revive your big brother in a few years!"
Tobirama's face tightened, and he surprisingly didn't refute it.
Masahiko's mouth twitched. "So that really was the reason..."
Hashirama looked back and forth, then sighed. "Tobirama, just this once. This jutsu will be sealed as a Forbidden Jutsu for the time being."
The storm over Edo Tensei subsided temporarily. Masahiko knew how much chaos this jutsu would cause in the future. He could have destroyed it like he did the Dead Demon Consuming Seal, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
"Decades from now, I should be able to use resurrection-type jutsu... As for the cost, I'll worry about that later!" This was Masahiko's plan. He was still unreconciled about not changing the outcome of the Valley of the End. Thus, Edo Tensei, just like in the original story, was listed as a Forbidden Jutsu and preserved.
Afterward, Masahiko received a new task. Hashirama entrusted him with monitoring Tobirama...
Of course, not face-to-face monitoring; Masahiko didn't have the patience to stay in the Hokage's office all day. He just stayed in a nearby location, occasionally using the Mind's Eye of the Kagura to check if Tobirama was there or if he had created a Shadow Clone.
As for where Masahiko was...
"Great-Grandpa, you're here to drink tea at my house again?" Kenji sighed, sitting down opposite Masahiko.
Masahiko smiled, watching Kaori walk over with two cups of tea. He teased, "Not everyone gets the chance to drink tea brewed by the Princess of the Land of Fire."
Pausing for a moment, Masahiko added, "However, Kenji, Kaori is pregnant after all. Don't trouble her next time..."
Kenji had just breathed a sigh of relief when his expression froze.
"Next time I come, I want you to brew the tea!"
"Great-Grandpa, it's fine..." Kaori approached. As a Princess of the Land of Fire, she had the demeanor of a high-born lady. Among the girls Masahiko had met, only Mito back in the day could compare.
"I'm only three months along; it doesn't matter," Kaori continued.
Masahiko nodded, then sighed, muttering to himself, "Only three months... looks like I have to mooch off you guys for another six months..."
Kenji stared wide-eyed. "Great-Grandpa, you..."
Masahiko ignored him. He had made up his mind to hang around Kenji's house for the next six months. First, to avoid that gambler Hashirama, and second, to monitor Tsunade's birth... Monitoring Tobirama was just a side job.
"Great-Grandpa!" Kenji's shout brought Masahiko back to reality. Before he could speak, Kenji continued, "It's getting late. Shouldn't you go back?" He said this through gritted teeth.
Masahiko looked out the window; sure enough, the sky was darkening. He nodded. "Then I'll head back first... See you tomorrow!"
Kenji hurriedly added, "Great-Uncle, I have to go to the Ninja Academy tomorrow for business, so you..."
Masahiko waved his hand. "It's fine. Kaori will be home!"
Watching Masahiko walk away, Kenji looked helplessly at the distressed Kaori and shook his head with a bitter smile. He really had no way to deal with this Great-Grandpa.
Walking home, Masahiko muttered, "Tobirama hasn't made a move for half a month. Did he discover my surveillance, or did he really give up?" He thought for a moment, then laughed again. "Kenji, oh Kenji. That bratty kid used to bully his Great-Grandpa all the time. Now that he's grown up, it's my turn for revenge... I think I used this same routine to bully Hashirama when Mito was pregnant with you. What a nostalgic feeling."
For the next five months, Masahiko became like a salaryman from his past life, reporting to Kenji's house every day from nine to six.
However, in September, Mito moved into Kenji's house, and Masahiko felt a bit embarrassed to go. Facing Mito, who had some guesses about his age, he always felt a bit guilty.
As for why Mito moved in, it surprised Masahiko slightly. It was to prepare to take Kaori to the hospital at any moment and deliver the baby personally.
"I remember in the original story, the one who delivered Kushina's baby was Hiruzen's wife... Are the midwives in the Naruto world this unprofessional?" Masahiko shook his head with a bitter smile. "Kushina had a strong constitution and was the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. But Kaori isn't a ninja. Is this really okay?"
Even though he knew Tsunade was born successfully, at this moment, he was more worried than Kenji's family.
amidst Masahiko's nervous anticipation, the date arrived: August 2nd, Year 10 of Konoha, noon.
In the hallway of the Konoha Hospital, three people waited anxiously: Masahiko, Hashirama, and Kenji.
Listening to Kaori's cries of pain and Mito's orderly commands coming from the room, Masahiko felt a sense of dissonance.
"So Mito actually practiced midwifery skills? She's even commanding the medical-nin. This old lady really is... impressive."
Masahiko looked at Kenji and asked, "Have you picked a name for the child?" He intended to snatch the naming rights. However, Kenji's answer made his face go dark.
"We have. If it's a girl, she'll be called Tsunade. If it's a boy, he'll be called Nawaki."
Great. He couldn't even snatch the naming rights for the next generation.
While Masahiko was regretting not naming Tsunade earlier, the cries inside the room gradually subsided.
After two slapping sounds, the cry of a baby came from inside.
"Just now... little Tsunade got spanked," Masahiko found it inexplicably funny.
A moment later, Mito walked out holding a baby tightly wrapped in a quilt. She looked at the three men. "It's a girl." As she spoke, she lifted the quilt slightly to let them take a look.
Kenji stared at the baby for a while before reacting, hurriedly entering the room to check on Kaori.
Hashirama smiled with delight, circling around the baby in Mito's arms.
Masahiko took a few looks, then sighed slightly, shook his head, and walked out, leaving the bewildered couple behind.
Wandering aimlessly through the streets of Konoha, Masahiko fell into a strange mood.
"I saw Tsunade naked, yet my heart didn't waver in the slightest..." Masahiko muttered.
"I've waited so long, only to see a little baby. How long will it be until I can see the style of the Sannin and the other plot characters...?" Masahiko felt mentally exhausted from waiting.
"Waiting forever is really unpleasant. Should I go find something to do?" Masahiko sighed, then felt a touch of sadness. "I'll wait until after I see Hashirama off..."
