Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: The Konoha Military Police Force

Chapter 75: The Konoha Military Police Force

With the Nine-Tails sealing incident settled, the election of the Second Hokage was put on the agenda.

That's right, an election. In the end, Hashirama didn't just appoint Tobirama as his successor; he decided to hold another general election.

Upon hearing the news, Uchiha Izuya was overjoyed and personally visited every clan. He even brought Uchiha Kagami along when visiting the Sarutobi, Shimura, and Akimichi clans, hoping to use their classmates' friendship to garner votes.

At the Uzumaki clan compound, after deciding to step down, Hashirama visited Masahiko every few days. Not to discuss official business, but to learn how to play dice. Masahiko was helpless against this gambler.

"Hashirama, have you heard? Recently, Uchiha Izuya has been campaigning for Hokage. Do you have any opinions on that?" Masahiko asked with a smile.

Hashirama frowned. "Great-Uncle, how could you be sure it was an eleven just now?"

Masahiko's face darkened. "Aren't you worried that Tobirama might lose to Uchiha Izuya?"

Hashirama picked up the dice cup and shook it. "Why can't I roll an eighteen?"

...

Masahiko slammed the table, startling Hashirama. He snatched the dice cup and shook it vigorously. "Guess what the number is now?"

"Eleven... no, eighteen!" Hashirama hesitated.

Masahiko opened the cup. The three dice were stacked perfectly on top of each other, with the top one showing a one.

Hashirama's eyes widened. "Great-Uncle, that's possible too?"

Masahiko smiled. "Want to learn? I'll teach you! But answer my question first..."

Masahiko was about to repeat his question, but Hashirama spoke directly. "Great-Uncle, don't worry. Uchiha Izuya can't beat Tobirama. He used Uchiha Kagami to rope in Hiruzen, Danzo, and Torifu, but Tobirama is their teacher..."

Masahiko's face was as black as charcoal. So Hashirama had heard everything clearly just now; he just hadn't answered. Seeing Hashirama eagerly waiting to learn the new dice skill, Masahiko said flatly, "Aren't you afraid Uchiha Izuya has a backup plan?"

"Hurry up and teach me, Great-Uncle," Hashirama shook his head. "What backup plan could he have?"

As they were speaking, an Uzumaki clansman knocked and entered. "Great Elder, Uchiha Elder Uchiha Izuya is here to visit."

Masahiko nodded, signaling for him to enter. He turned to Hashirama and said with a wry smile, "See? The backup plan is here. Hide in the back and see how he tries to rope in your Great-Uncle..."

Hashirama nodded with a strange expression, took the dice cup, and hid in the inner room.

Uchiha Izuya was welcomed in. Seeing Masahiko, he smiled and said, "Uncle Masahiko..."

Masahiko waved his hand, interrupting him. "Don't call me Uncle. No respect for seniority. Call me Grandpa. Would you dare call me that if Uchiha Madara were still here?"

Uchiha Izuya's face darkened. He cursed inwardly, If Lord Madara were still here, I'd call you 'old fossil'... But since he needed a favor, he could only say hatefully, "Grandpa... Masahiko."

"Good boy. Sit down," Masahiko agreed with a smile.

Uchiha Izuya's mouth twitched, and he sat down heavily. The chair Hashirama had just vacated was still warm. He frowned and asked, "Grandpa Masahiko, was someone else here just now?"

Masahiko froze for a moment. "Ah, no. I had my feet up on that chair just now."

Uchiha Izuya: "..."

Barely suppressing his anger, he spoke. "You must understand the purpose of my visit. I hope the Uzumaki clan will support me becoming Hokage."

Masahiko sighed and scratched his head. "We are related to the Senju by marriage. How could we possibly support you?"

Uchiha Izuya shook his head. "Your Uzumaki clan is now a great clan, second only to the Senju and Uchiha. The position of Hokage should rotate. If you support me this time, next time..."

Masahiko shook his head with a smile. "Even if we supported you, you wouldn't become Hokage."

Uchiha Izuya revealed a smug smile. "Many clans have already agreed to support me. With you, victory is in my grasp."

Masahiko paused. "Then I'll consider it..."

Uchiha Izuya's smile grew even smugger. He bid Masahiko farewell and left the Uzumaki compound.

"Pfft... Hahaha!" After Uchiha Izuya left and Hashirama came out from the inner room, Masahiko couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"Hashirama, look at him... Hahaha!"

Hashirama looked confused. "Great-Uncle, are you this happy that Tobirama won't become Hokage?"

Masahiko's smile froze. He pointed a trembling finger at Hashirama, then laughed so hard he fell backward over his chair.

Hashirama revealed a naturally sinister smile...

Half a month passed in the blink of an eye, and the voting for Hokage began.

Uchiha Izuya lost to Tobirama... with a "high" vote count of 59.

If there were only 100 eligible voters, Uchiha Izuya would have won. But... there were over 1,000 eligible voters. And coincidentally, there were exactly 60 eligible Uchiha voters. Which one didn't vote for Uchiha Izuya...?

Looking at Izuya's completely green face, Masahiko laughed even harder.

Uchiha Izuya walked over hatefully. "Grandpa... Masahiko, didn't we have an agreement?"

Masahiko smiled. "Didn't you say many clans supported you...? Look, not a single person outside the Uchiha voted for you."

At this point, Masahiko paused, a thought crossing his mind. "And it's possible even your son didn't support you..."

"Kagami..." Uchiha Izuya murmured, his expression changing slightly as he turned and left.

With the Hokage election concluded, Tobirama successfully became the Second Hokage, and Masahiko gained another 20 Witness Points. Compared to Hashirama, Tobirama was much more responsible, staying in the Hokage Building all day and refusing to come out.

Masahiko was exasperated by Hashirama pestering him to learn dice every day. Eventually, he used the excuse that he needed to practice sculpting to shut him out.

This wasn't just an excuse; Masahiko really was practicing. He spent another 9 Witness Points on Sculpting, maxing it out. Since then, he had been familiarizing himself with his max-level sculpting skills.

Of course, he didn't want to carve the Hokage Rock for Tobirama. Instead, he remembered that the Valley of the End needed two giant statues. Great ninjas like Madara and Hashirama needed to be remembered by future generations.

While Masahiko was familiarizing himself with sculpting, Konoha experienced a small disturbance.

Having failed the election for Hokage, the unwilling Uchiha clan started causing trouble everywhere. Whether it was the Medical Department, tea houses and restaurants, or even the Ninja Academy, they wanted a hand in everything.

Various clans filed joint complaints to Tobirama multiple times. Helpless, Tobirama established the famous organization: the Konoha Military Police Force, with the main positions filled entirely by the Uchiha clan.

They were responsible for formulating village regulations, strengthening and maintaining order and security in Konoha, and had the authority to arrest anyone, ninja or civilian, with criminal tendencies.

Having obtained such great power, the Uchiha's emotions were soothed, and Konoha returned to peace once again.

But this... was only the prelude to the storm.
