On the other side of the city, Hong Yi was in his office when one of his most trusted men rushed in, breathing hard.
"Sir… we found out something. It's about Xiamen's father."
Hong Yi's eyes sharpened instantly. "Speak."
The man hesitated, almost afraid to say it.
"Sir… he's planning to kidnap Haoyu."
The room froze.
Hong Yi stood up so fast his chair slammed against the wall.
"What?!"
"Yes, sir. We overheard one of his men talking. It seems he wants to use Haoyu… against you."
For a moment, Hong Yi felt the world tilt.

He arrived at her house within minutes.
Xiamen opened the door with a warm smile, but it faded when she saw his tense face.

After he left, Xiamen stood in the silent hallway, heart pounding.
