Amy's answer made Mai Ge nod in satisfaction. It was the most reassuring answer he'd heard at her age. For a little girl who had no concept of romance, this dependence made him quite happy.
As for when she grows up, if just any Tom, Dick, or Harry tries to get close to Amy, well, he'll have to break their legs. There's no reasoning with them. This is a father's responsibility, and he doesn't want to consider entrusting her to any man right now.
Having given her three pieces of advice, Mai Ge felt much more at ease. However, he really didn't have much experience raising children. He'd deal with problems as they arose.
"Also, since Little Amy has been calling me 'Father' ever since you learned to speak, you can call me 'Daddy' most of the time." Mai Ge said after thinking for a moment, then looked at Amy again. He had corrected her a few times before, and sometimes she could, sometimes she couldn't.
For Amy, Mai Ge was her most important support and the only safe haven. That's why she used to call him "father" which carried a sense of respect and formality, but also created a feeling of estrangement.
He had this feeling before, but Amy was still a little insecure at the time, and Mai Ge was worried that it would put a burden on her, so he corrected her a few times and then stopped.
Now that she had fully regained the confidence a child her age should have, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it up naturally, given the pleasant atmosphere of today's conversation.
"Daddy?" Amy looked at Mai Ge, a little confused. In her heart, whether in the past or present, her father was omnipotent, the most powerful person in the world. Therefore, she felt that "Father" was the best title before, and she hoped that he would always be that loving and protective man.
But judging from her father's expression, he didn't seem to like her calling him that. If she called him "Daddy" it seemed more intimate. Amy hesitated for a moment, then looked at Mai Ge and nodded, saying, "Okay, Daddy, I understand. I'll call you that from now on. See, I've managed to change it recently."
"Hmm, it's okay, you'll get used to it slowly." Mai Ge smiled and patted Amy's hair. However, it was a good thing that this change was happening slowly. He wanted to become closer to Amy and become someone she could completely trust and rely on.
"System notification: The music box has been completed, taking four minutes and thirty seconds. Delivered to the second cabinet on the counter. The system can provide gift wrapping service. Does the host need it?" At this moment, the system's voice sounded.
"Of course!" Mai Ge replied without hesitation. Unpacking packages and gift boxes was always a pleasant experience, and nice packaging was a sign of respect for the gift.
Of course, most importantly, this was a free gift from the system. This stingy system had surprisingly offered a free service, which piqued his curiosity.
"Alright, if Little Amy remembers what Daddy said today, then Daddy will give you a gift, okay?" Mai Ge smiled.
"Is it a singing little person?" Amy's eyes lit up.
"Yes." Mai Ge nodded. Although it wasn't a living little person, the music box was definitely a unique toy in this world.
"Little Amy will remember everything, Daddy. " Amy said happily.
"Meow~~" The Ugly Duckling, who had circled the chair countless times, sat on the floor, looking up at the two of them with a resentful expression of being ignored.
"Behave good, Ugly Duckling, Daddy said he's going to give us a little singing person." Amy jumped off Mai Ge's lap, squatted down, picked up the Ugly Duckling, and ruffled its head as she spoke.
"Meow!" The Ugly Duckling enjoyed Amy's petting, looking at Mai Ge with curiosity, seemingly also interested in the singing person.
Hearing the system's notification that the packaging was complete, Mai Ge got up and walked to the counter. He bent down and saw a gift box wrapped in purple paper in the second cabinet, tied with a large bow. It certainly looked very girly, and he was quite satisfied.
Amy and the Ugly Duckling looked at Mai Ge expectantly, imagining what kind of singing little person it would be.
Mai Ge reached out and took the gift box out. It felt good in his hand, but not too heavy. He smiled and turned to show it to Amy.
"Wow, what a beautiful box! Daddy, is the singing little person hidden inside?" Amy's eyes lit up as she stepped forward and asked.
"Little Amy, you'll find out when you open the gift box yourself. This is a gift from your Daddy." Mai Ge said with a smile, placing the box on the counter.
"Okay." Amy climbed up the high stool herself, carefully placed the Ugly Duckling on the counter, stared at the purple gift box for a while, and looked up at Mai Ge with some hesitation, "Daddy, but this box is too beautiful, I don't want to tear it open."
Mai Ge smiled, surprised that the pretty gift box had caused Amy such distress. He patted her head and said, "The box is pretty, but it's just for holding gifts. The little singing person inside is waiting for our Amy to become her friend."
"She must be so scared being locked in the box all by herself. Okay, I'll rescue her right now!" Amy's gaze hardened at this, and she looked at the box apologetically, "I'm sorry, box, I have to tear you open to rescue the little person."
With Mai Ge's guidance, Amy successfully tore open the wrapping paper, then carefully lifted the upside-down box, revealing the music box inside.
The brown wooden base has an exceptional texture and is carved with two beautiful bauhinia flowers. A hemispherical glass cover connects to the base, and in the center is a ten centimeters tall blonde elf with long eyelashes and lively eyes, looking lifelike. The violin on her shoulder is so lifelike that can even see every string. The ground is covered with a layer of white spherical foam, like a blanket of snow. The workmanship is exquisite and well worth the price of fifty gold coins.
"Wow, what a beautiful little elf!" Amy's eyes sparkled as she stared wide-eyed at the little elf in the box.
"Meow meow~" The Ugly Duckling also crawled over, tilting its little head to look at the little person inside, its eyes full of curiosity. It raised its little paw to touch it, but when it saw Amy, it didn't dare to reach out, looking rather comical and cute.
"But Daddy, can she really sing?" Amy asked, turning to Mai Ge after watching for a while.
