'How much cliche could this get?'. Astrea wondered.
He was currently sitting in the garden, the wind flowing through the black roses, carrying with it a sweet sent that would make anyone take a deep drag.
Across from him was his fiancée— Amelia Moon. Her long black hair reached to the middle of her back, with two braids in it.
Her pink eyes were framed by her long black lashes. High cheekbones that were slightly dusted with pink. Full lips painted in scarlet color.
Staring at her Astrea couldn't help but be amazed by her body shapes.
She wore black gown that were highlighted with red color and a lot of accessories.
'So this is my fiancée, too bad we are gonna have to break the engagement'.
Astrea visibly cringed at the thought.
In the original story, Amelia and his predecessor never really broke their engagement. The reason why Astrea wanted to end it was because.
She had an harem.
And he wanted no part in it.
She already had an harem and wanted Astrea to become one of those men.
But as a man from the modern world, he found it hard to accept the reality of the situation.
Kissing her lips and tasting the spittle of another man, sliding into what someone else just slid out from.
'Just thinking about it, I feel cuckold'.
Astrea visibly flinched at the mental image his mind had cooked up. 'Hell no'.
'But then again when a man has an harem, does it feels this way to them'. Astrea wondered silently, a silly thought forming in his mind.
'Can a woman be a cuck, what would that be called. Cuckquean, no?'.
Before Astrea silly mind could sprial anymore, Amelia's voice broke him out of his thoughts.
"So tell me Astrea, what had you been up to". Amelia said, putting down her cup of tea.
Astrea beamed, his delighted expression shown on his face. This was how his predecessor acted with her. She was the only one he smiled at not even his mother got this privilege.
"Nothing much, just shopping for gold and taking some combat class". Astrea replied.
"Uh really, I bet you are pretty good with the sword now". Amelia replied, a sparkle of delight in her eyes.
Remembering the beating he received from the not so respectful guards. He chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Good, it's all good".
Amelia could tell that he was lying, but didn't call him out for it. She giggled her voice like a clear spring, causing anyone who hears it to enter a daze.
Even Astrea was momentarily stunned, his mind questioning his choice to call off the engagement.
"I got something for you". With a swipe of her hand a box appeared, which she then gave to Astrea.
'Spatial ring, nice'.
Astrea received the ribboned wrapped box stunned. The idea that a woman was buttering him up made his head spin at the absurdness.
Although back in his works, females also gave men gifts. It was extremely rare.
And that only happened when they were married. Or deeply in love— then again extremly rare.
"But I didn't get you anything". Although his words came out in a guilty tone, his hand were already unwrapping the gift box.
Amelia eyes sparkled at the sight, a dreamy look on her face. She really loved him, expectially this funny side of his.
He was usually reserved and she was the one who starred the conversation.
She didn't know of his reputation in the clan, neither his attitude of ignoring everyone, because the clan were tight lipped with anything going on in it.
If information got out, it was definitely intentional. Even the maids when visiting their family knew not to disclose the happenings of the clan.
Astrea unwrapped the box, he could almost small the gold. When the content of the box was revealed, Astrea was stunned.
'The hell?'.
"Astrea Bethel, please marry me".
Hearing Amelia's voice, Astrea's head started to wabble.
Astrea then let out a sigh. 'I almost forgot that this was supposed to be a Romance Novel'.
Hearing his sigh, Amelia frowned then said. "What's wrong, is it not to your liking".
Astrea snapped out of his thoughts. "No, no, it's great, it's just that". Astrea hesitated, he could see the affection she had for him, or Astrea.
She was the only light in his predecessor otherwise dark life.
"It's just what?". Amelia said, she had a bad feeling about.
Astrea sighed. "Their's no better way to say this, I think we should break off the engagement".
Amelia was stunned for a moment, her mind replaying the words all over again. "... Uh?". Was all she could manage to break out.
Astrea stayed silent, letting her digest the words.
For a moment only the wind were heard. Until she broke the silence.
"Did I something wrong?". But before Astrea could respond she continued.
"Is it because of the engagement ring? I could get it replaced if you want". She said her brows tightening.
"It's not that". Astrea replied.
"Then what". She said looking straight at his eyes.
Astrea scratched his head, he couldn't exactly say that it was because she had an harem, that was pretty normal in this world.
"It's just that, I have given it some thoughts and I don't think I will be able to share my woman".
'So that's what this about'. Amelia let out a sigh, for a moment she thought it was something serious.
"Phew~ you almost got me there". Amelia said with a chuckle, but seeing the serious expression on his face, she knew that he was serious.
"Look I am flattered, but that's just being stingy". Amelia said with a frown, but Astrea still didn't say anything.
"But I love you". Amelia replied in a heartbroken voice.
"I'm sorry". Was all Astrea said.
Amelia leaned back into her chair, then her expression shimmered into one of anger.
"But there wouldn't be a problem if you were the one with the harem".
Astrea was stumped for words. ".... I don't like harem". His voice had a awkward tone.
Amelia then stood up in anger and pointed a finger at him. "Go kill yourself you sexist garbage". Then she strode away in anger.
For a moment they was silence before Astrea said. "That went well".
He had half expected to be thrown through the garden.
But he knew he just made an enemy.
'Time to grind'.
