Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Teaching Them Useless Things

Ryuya's words struck the five sisters like a bolt of lightning.

After all, their biggest headache right now was their terrible grades…

"Th-this is… the legendary Devil's Temptation, isn't it?" Ichika laughed helplessly.

Nino folded her arms and huffed. "Are we really going to rely on something like this? Doesn't it seem suspicious? It's basically a pie falling from the sky."

Since the authenticity of the contract was being questioned, Ryuya didn't rush. He simply replied calmly:

"I have no reason to deceive you. Devils take on various requests from humans, then receive compensation to strengthen ourselves. That's our way of survival."

"I believe Mister Ryuya is a good person!" Yotsuba nodded repeatedly.

"Thank you," Ryuya said flatly. "But I don't need a 'good person' stamp of approval."

"..."

Miku tilted her head. "Um… does that mean no matter what kind of trouble, we can ask you for help?"

"That's right. The stronger a human's desire, the greater the compensation we receive after fulfilling the contract. So we do our best to accomplish whatever wish they have."

"W-wah, that sounds like something easy to misunderstand…" Itsuki muttered under her breath. "Th-then, what if… someone wanted to commit a crime…"

A small grin tugged at Ryuya's lips, carrying a hint of wildness.

"Want to try? Destroying the world is impossible. But blowing the school sky high? That's doable. You girls don't like studying anyway."

"WAAAH! NO NO NO!! Don't listen to Itsuki's nonsense!!" Yotsuba waved her hands frantically.

Ryuya chuckled inwardly. "I'm joking. Destructive acts are forbidden. There are rules."

After all, this era was dominated by humans. Among humans there were also powerful individuals; angels and devils couldn't act recklessly.

The ones who caused trouble were usually stray devils or exiled ones—those who would be hunted down immediately if they committed crimes.

The five sisters exchanged glances.

It really didn't seem like there was much to hesitate about.

"I think it's worth trying. It's not every day we get to touch a magical world. I don't want my memory erased either," Ichika said with a smile.

Yotsuba eagerly agreed next—she was the one who made the wish after all, and Ryuya's appearance had hit her heart dead-on.

Then Miku and Itsuki agreed.

Finally, only Nino remained.

The girl froze, then pouted. "What the heck, if you all agree, of course I won't object. We're sisters—we move together!"

Success.

A faint smile appeared on Ryuya's face. He was in an excellent mood.

He hadn't expected to secure five contracts in one day. For a devil who previously only had a single contractor, this was huge…

He then signed contracts with the beautiful quintuplets—simple ones, unlike the Faith Contract with Sakurajima Mai that even impressed Rias Gremory.

Quantity over quality—but quantity was quantity.

And there might still be a chance to upgrade them later.

Ryuya tapped his finger on the table, drawing all five sisters' attention.

"From today on, I'll be tutoring all of you. But before that—show me your exam papers. I need to understand your current academic level."

The moment he said that, all five sisters' expressions changed dramatically…

They exchanged glances, suddenly shy and uneasy.

Ryuya blinked. "The test papers?"

The five had no choice but to slowly pull their exam papers from their bags. Ryuya took them one by one.

Ryuya took one look—and froze.

After finishing all five papers, he fell silent for a long, long moment.

"…Not bad, actually. You managed to score a full 100 points… when the five of you are added together."

Once he said that, the five beautiful girls across from him instantly turned red with embarrassment, glancing around awkwardly.

Ryuya was speechless.

He had mentally prepared himself for their grades to be bad—after all, Yotsuba's wish was for all five of them to graduate together.

But he hadn't expected it to be this bad…

All five combined only totaled 100 points…

Were these quintuplets sharing the same brain or something?

Ryuya pressed his lips together.

It was clear he would have to put in some serious effort to tutor them.

At least with his Common Sense Alteration, it shouldn't be too difficult.

"…Alright. It's fine. You don't have to worry—just leave it to me."

His gentle tone genuinely surprised the sisters.

"Really? You're the first person who's ever told us it's okay if our grades are bad…" Ichika said with a bright smile.

"But I never said it's okay not to study. Learning more won't hurt you."

Ryuya replied casually, making Nino roll her eyes.

"That lecturing tone is exactly like an old man…"

"What's wrong? Are you going through your rebellious phase?" Ryuya tilted his head slightly, giving Nino a sideways look.

"I am NOT!" She glared. "And since you're a high schooler too, what—your grades must be amazing?"

At that, Ryuya shrugged.

"My grades? No need to worry. They're all perfectly touching the passing line."

"Huh!? Then you're no better than us! How are you supposed to teach us!?" Nino snapped.

Ryuya chuckled lightly.

"Just because I score on the passing line doesn't mean my ability is at the passing line. You think getting full marks is difficult for me?"

"..."

Though his tone remained plain, the arrogance between the lines was unmistakable.

"So… it really was my fault earlier, right…" Yotsuba said, face scrunched in misery. "I really didn't understand those topics at all…"

"Heh… Or maybe the real truth is that someone was teaching completely useless things?" Nino muttered, giving Ryuya a provocative stare.

Ryuya raised an eyebrow and said calmly:

"As an older sister, you shouldn't speak about your little sister that way."

"...??"

"...??"

A beat later, everyone finally reacted—and all of them were left speechlessly choked.

Ryuya stood up, ignoring Nino puffing her cheeks in irritation.

"Then I'll head home for today. Tomorrow I'll prepare proper materials, and we'll begin your tutoring session together. Rest well tonight."

"O-okay~ Then we'll be in your care~" Ichika waved with a bright smile.

"See you tomorrow," Ryuya said.

A magic circle flared beneath his feet, and in the blink of an eye, his figure vanished from their sight.

The girls all stared, mouths slightly open once again, stunned at the display.
