Chief Luo Bu roared, his voice echoing like thunder through the office area, and specks of saliva splattered onto the desks.
But the Police present had no reaction after hearing him; Gordon, too, showed no sign of backing down or any shame.
He raised his head, his eyes fixed on Chief Luo Bu, as if trying to see through him.
The surrounding Police Officers were equally silent, all uniformly turning their gaze towards the Director, their eyes filled with scrutiny and suspicion, as if searching for clues on him.
Being stared at by so many pairs of eyes, Chief Luo Bu felt a chill down the back of his neck and his scalp tingled.
But he still stiffened his neck and forced himself to shout, pretending to be calm: "What are you looking at! Are you all not going to work? Hurry up and find out who stole this money!"
Gordon stood up and walked in front of Rob, so close that he could feel his breath.
"Director," his voice was as cold as the late-night wind of Gotham, "there are some things I hope you'll come and see with me."
"The evidence we found."
After speaking, he turned and left, and the other Police followed behind.
Chief Luo Bu felt something strange, a wave of unease rising in his heart, but he still gritted his teeth and followed.
However, he didn't walk for long and soon arrived at the large, shared desktop computer in the office.
Gordon walked to the computer and used the mouse to open a file.
It was a video.
After the video was opened, Chief Luo Bu leaned in to look, and the familiar metal door of the evidence room appeared on the screen.
Realizing something, his heart instantly leaped to his throat, and his face immediately turned ashen white.
In the video, although the lights were not on, it was still clearly visible that a young Police Officer pushed open the door, and soon after, Gordon and Harvey Bullock hurriedly followed the young Police Officer out.
But that wasn't the main point; not long after, a figure stealthily crept over.
And by his physique and the clothes he was wearing, everyone could tell that it was clearly Chief Luo Bu.
In the footage recorded by the video, Chief Luo Bu stood at the entrance of the evidence room for a while, peeking down both sides of the corridor, and after confirming that no one was around, he pulled out a white disc from his in my arms.
Chief Luo Bu's finger lightly tapped on it, and a symbol familiar to all the Police Officers present appeared.
It was a light purple hourglass symbol.
If you can't remember where you've seen it, it doesn't matter.
Because a thoughtful Police Officer had already found a photo and taped it to the edge of the computer screen.
In the photo, there was an armored person wearing white armor. And on his chest, a light purple hourglass symbol also gleamed, identical to the object in Chief Luo Bu's hand in the video.
The Director stood still for a moment, holding the light purple hourglass symbol, then suddenly, as if sensing something, he darted into a nearby pile of clutter.
A few minutes later, he poked his head out again, as if confirming that no one was truly around before returning to the doorway.
Standing at the door, Chief Luo Bu seemed to be muttering something to himself, and then it could be seen that, somehow, a key suddenly appeared in his hand.
And then, unlocking and pushing the door open, all in one smooth motion.
Not long after, after doing who knows what inside, the door was suddenly pulled open from the inside.
Chief Luo Bu rushed out in a panic, fumbling to lock the door from the outside, and even tugged hard on the doorknob to confirm it was locked before hastily retreating.
When the video finished playing, Chief Luo Bu's face was pale, and he asked in disbelief: "How could there be surveillance there? It shouldn't be!"
He had been the Director of the Gotham Police Department for so many years; he knew exactly where the surveillance cameras were in the Police Department.
"I mentioned it to you before, that we would be running a pilot program in the department, installing the cameras intended for the streets and alleys here at the Gotham Police Department for testing first." Gordon folded his arms, his gaze piercing Chief Luo Bu like an ice pick: "So, Director, didn't you leave a long time ago? How did you end up here?"
Chief Luo Bu opened his mouth, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, his face turning alternately green and white, and he barely managed to squeeze out half a sentence: "I... I just..."
Before he finished speaking, the surrounding Police had already silently surrounded him.
Harvey Bullock, barely suppressing his laughter, rushed forward a few steps and grabbed Chief Luo Bu by the collar: "Stop pretending! Where did that key come from? And what's your relationship with the Tiangong Society?"
Although everyone present looked menacing, in reality, the only one truly suffering was Chief Luo Bu.
Regardless of which family's White Glove was present, none of them wanted the Skynet system to be implemented, but none wanted to be the first to speak out.
Now that someone had actually helped get rid of this money, they couldn't be happier.
But while that was the logic, on the surface, they still had to feign a shared hatred for the enemy.
Moreover, if this matter was truly related to the Tiangong Society, they genuinely held a great deal of resentment.
Although a group of them went to deal with the issues of those powerful figures whose homes were raided, unfortunately, they couldn't find any clues.
These Tiangong Society members, after each raid, seemed to vanish into thin air, leaving no relevant clues behind.
This led to them, as a group, essentially getting scolded every time they went.
The wealthy merchants: I warn you, you must resolve these issues quickly!
They: Yes, yes, we are very sorry, very apologetic, and we feel deeply distressed for you.
But they had no success; they just couldn't find any trace of those Tiangong Society members.
The other party was like a group of seasoned killers, each capable of perfectly hiding his tracks.
Having finally caught someone who should be connected to the other party, of course, they had to ask for relevant information... In the corridor outside the interrogation room.
Harvey pushed open the iron door of the interrogation room and walked towards Gordon, his expression not looking good.
Gordon immediately went to meet him: "How is it? Did you get him to talk?"
Harvey sighed heavily, fumbled a crumpled cigarette from his pocket, but found his lighter was out of fuel.
Gordon took out his own lighter and lit it for Harvey, who then said: "Still couldn't find out where the money went. This guy's mouth is really tough, not a single truthful word."
Gordon frowned, stroking his chin in confusion: "Ten billion isn't a small sum, it shouldn't be untraceable. Even if the Tiangong Society is incredibly powerful, it's impossible for that much cash to just vanish into thin air."
"At first, he adamantly denied that the person in the video was him," Harvey scoffed, shaking his head, "insisting that someone had disguised himself as him, and even went on to say that the Tiangong Society had some kind of disguise technology."
"Later, when pressed, he changed his story, saying that besides him, there were several Tiangong Society members at the entrance of the evidence room at the time, but our installed surveillance didn't capture them." Harvey's tone was somewhat indignant, feeling that Rob was just trying to mess with him: "Where is there such advanced technology now?"
And what he hadn't expected was that Gordon, who had been silently pondering the problem since the beginning, suddenly spoke: "You're saying... is there a possibility..."
"That he's telling the truth? That there were indeed other Tiangong Society members present besides him at the time."
"How do you mean?"
"It's not that they have some invisibility technology that cameras can't capture; it's that this batch of pilot cameras from the Wayne Group can't capture them."
"Hahaha, how could..." Harvey was about to mock his partner's absurd idea, but then, as if suddenly remembering something, he stopped mid-sentence.
The cameras were given by a certain person, the idea of fishing was suggested by a certain person, and the instruction for the two of them to go deal with the Tiangong Society matter was given by a certain person.
And these 'certain persons' were all the same person.
No way???
