Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: The hairy crab questions humans

Upgrade is one of the 8 alien heroes Gwen initially possessed.

His main ability is to attach to electronic devices and modify and enhance them beyond normal limits.

When Gwen heard Benjamin say there was a tracking device inside one of his teeth, she immediately thought of Upgrade's ability.

So he directly switched his transformation, burrowed into Benjamin's mouth, and began to examine each tooth.

And when he checked the wisdom tooth closest to the side, he found that he could really attach to it.

It was then obvious that this tooth was not a normal tooth.

After confirming the target, she directly attached herself entirely to it.

After confirming this tooth, which was identified as a technological product, Gwen used Upgrade's ability to modify it, first detaching herself from the tooth, and then making it grow a pair of legs, allowing it to run out on its own.

As for the internal tracker... that was very unfortunate.

Before leaving the tooth, Gwen 'kindly' activated Upgrade's ability to enhance the tracker.

However, just like a +10 weapon, the enhancement failed.

The tracker inside the tooth was completely damaged and unusable.

But it wasn't all bad news.

Before the enhancement, Upgrade had already recorded the tracker's unique signal.

Upgrade 'whooshed' over, quickly attached to a nearby computer, and stored the tracker's unique signal into the computer.

After completing the operation, Upgrade didn't stay long, directly detaching from the computer.

Immediately after, the purple area of the Omnitrix symbol on her chest flashed red, glowing brightly, blinding everyone.

After the red light subsided, Upgrade reverted to Gwen's original form.

The girl made a slight adjustment, adapting to the feeling of having bones again, then her gaze fell on the monitor not far away.

The time displayed on the monitor showed that approximately 6 minutes had passed since she transformed into Ice Phantom.

Hmm... it seems repairing DNA does consume a lot of energy, but it's not enough to render the Omnitrix unusable after repairing just one person's DNA.

In the original story, Ben Tennyson clearly repaired too many people's DNA with the Omnitrix, which led to insufficient energy.

Gwen didn't even look at the tooth on the ground, giving it a gentle kick to send it rolling into a corner.

Then, she returned to the restraint bed.

Benjamin looked at the red-haired girl in front of him, and for some reason, he felt a little apprehensive.

"Do you know where the Court of Owls' strongholds are?" Gwen smiled at Benjamin, her voice soft, as if asking him whether he wanted milk or soy milk for breakfast tomorrow.

However, Benjamin, hearing this question, still nodded honestly and replied, "I know some within Gotham City, but probably not all. I also know some outside Gotham City."

Gwen nodded at his words, then suddenly asked, "You've been working for Talon for so long without pay, do you want revenge?"

Benjamin answered almost without hesitation, eagerly, "Of course I do!"

He couldn't forgive himself, and even less could he forgive the Court of Owls.

He was originally just an acrobat in a circus, wanting to make children cheer with his performances.

But the Court of Owls made him kill people, made him do things he didn't want to do.

He knew he was guilty, a guilt that could not be forgiven by the victims, and he wanted to repent.

But before that... he must make that son-of-a-bitch court pay the price!

Gwen nodded, no longer speaking, just giving Benjamin a meaningful look before turning and walking to the control panel.

Her slender fingers rapidly tapped on the control panel, and with a faint hum, two metal doors reappeared where the metal gate had been cut open by thermite, not far away.

These two metal doors covered the cut area and ensured as much as possible that the indoor temperature would not rise.

However, this door was actually just a backup; it clearly didn't have the same protective qualities as the previous door.

After closing the door, Gwen pressed a few more buttons on the control panel. The cold air vents in the safe house emitted a low hum, and a continuous stream of white cold air poured out, filling the room and slowing down the melting speed of the ice sculptures Ice Phantom had created earlier.

After doing all this, Gwen's gaze fell on the Omnitrix on her wrist, and she began to tinker with it.

Although Benjamin didn't understand what she was going to do, seeing her serious and focused expression, he wisely remained silent, just quietly tied up on the side... well, he was a bit cold, though.

Not long after, the watch dial on Gwen's wrist suddenly popped up, and a purple light illuminated Gwen's face.

And on the dial, the image of an alien hero appeared.

Swampfire? No.

Spidermonkey? Cute~ but no.

Gwen twisted the dial, switching through alien heroes one by one.

When a familiar, peculiar figure appeared before her, Gwen's eyes lit up.

Under Benjamin's curious gaze, Gwen carefully pressed the dial.

Another flash of dazzling light passed, making Benjamin instinctively close his eyes.

When he opened his eyes again, he appeared very calm.

He was no longer surprised by anything strange he saw.

Yes, even if what was in front of him now was a... crab?

Yes, in front of him was a large crab with a huge reddish-brown carapace, with 6 legs on its lower body and two pairs of large pincers on its upper body.

This large crab's mouth was always open, which matched the characteristics of a filter feeder.

But was this crab shell a bit too big?

"Brainstorm!"

After shouting his name, Brainstorm's compound-eyed head turned towards Benjamin, and his 6 crab legs gently shifted on the ground, making a rustling sound.

"Listen, Benjamin. We don't have any more time to waste. From now on, you must tell me the truth when I ask you something."

Although Brainstorm didn't open his mouth, his voice reached Benjamin's mind.

But this made Benjamin very confused, especially why the other party, clearly an American, suddenly started speaking with a British accent?

However, despite his lack of understanding, he still nodded seriously, his eyes firm: "I will answer whatever you ask, without any concealment."

Brainstorm's large claws slightly closed, making a crisp clicking sound, and his purple inverted triangular eyes scrutinized Benjamin, asking: "Are you still obeying the Court of Owls?"

"Of course not!" Benjamin's tone was decisive, his eyes burning with hatred.

Brainstorm nodded and continued to ask, "In our previous conversation, did you lie?"

Although Benjamin was bound, he straightened his back and met Brainstorm's gaze without fear: "Every word I told you before was true."

Brainstorm suddenly let out a laugh that sounded somewhat strange to a normal person.

Clearly, this was not a sound a human could make.

Suddenly, Brainstorm's tone shifted, and he said in a slightly cheerful voice, "In that case... Mr. Benjamin, would you be interested in working for me? You can name your own price!"

Benjamin was startled, a hesitant expression on his face.

He hated the Court of Owls to the core, eager to break free from the past and seek revenge.

But he wasn't sure what this big crab in front of him actually needed him to do.

Benjamin stared at Brainstorm and asked seriously, "What do you need me to do?"

"Anyway, you won't need to continue being a killer, and even if you have to kill, you won't kill good people. I'll tell you the specifics later, I guarantee it'll be better for your conscience than being a Talon."

Benjamin bit his lip, his brows furrowed, and he lowered his head in thought.

But Brainstorm seemed to read his mind and spoke again: "Mr. Benjamin, I can see that you are a man of conscience. Do you think that after all that has happened, you would allow yourself to return to being a normal circus acrobat with a clear conscience?"

Benjamin fell silent, the room so quiet that only his faint breathing could be heard.
