Chapter 39 - [39]: Talking about Novels

When Akira thought of Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, he remembered the line, "I will always love Sakurajima Mai-senpai."

And then there was that meme: "People live for Sakurajima Mai, killing Sakurajima Mai."

Akira organized his thoughts and began to write according to his own ideas.

The first volume was Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.

The male protagonist, who had once suffered from Adolescence Syndrome, met female classmates who were also suffering from it, and in each volume he worked hard for a girl around him who had this strange illness.

So, as a book of episodic stories, Akira had to make sure his writing ability could carry the narrative well.

Otherwise, he would be standing on the shoulders of predecessors but achieving less than they had.

Wouldn't that be too embarrassing?

Akira's fingers flew across the keyboard, lines of text appearing rapidly on the screen as different characters gradually took shape in the blank document.

If he kept up this speed, he would definitely finish this volume within two weeks.

Since he had not researched other light novel authors, he had no way to gauge his own writing speed.

After Sajuna, who had rushed into the bedroom upon returning home, had relaxed on the bed for a while, she could not help wanting to see Akira again.

Girls in new relationships were always unexpectedly clingy.

Gently pushing open the bedroom door, Sajuna peeked out, her face turned to the side. She found that Akira was not, as usual, sitting on the sofa reading.

Instead, he was holding Shinju's computer, doing who knew what.

"Eh? What is Aki-kun doing?"

Sajuna was puzzled. She had never seen Akira working on a laptop before. When he came to her house, he only cooked and took care of her.

Although she knew her boyfriend might be a bit of an all-rounder, Aki-kun could not also be a hacker, could he?

Sajuna slowly stepped out, and the bedroom door closed with a soft click, though it did not disturb Akira.

Her curiosity grew even stronger.

Walking behind him, the television screen that had been blocked by Akira now came into view.

As Akira continued typing, more and more text appeared.

She saw Akira writing nonstop.

"I prefer Sakurajima Mai from middle school. How to put it, the blend of cuteness, sexiness, and mystery makes it impossible not to fall for her."

"Is Aki-kun writing a light novel?"

Sajuna wondered. "Speaking of which, Aki-kun asked me earlier if I had any future plans."

"I think I said I wanted to learn to draw manga."

"Then, paired with Aki-kun, that would really be a perfect match."

Sajuna thought this as she read the story Akira was creating.

"It should be a school romance story, right?"

She looked at the focused Akira, a little lost in thought.

After writing for about an hour, Akira finally exhausted the ideas in his mind, and a heavy sigh escaped him.

He looked up from the screen and felt a warm presence behind him.

Akira turned his head and saw Sajuna standing there, watching him.

"How long have you been waiting, Sajuna?"

"Not long."

Sajuna walked around the sofa and sat beside him. She picked up the kettle on the table and poured him a glass of water.

"Aki-kun, you must be tired."

"I'm alright."

Akira took the water. Focusing so hard had indeed made his throat dry.

"Aki-kun, are you writing a light novel?"

Sajuna asked, even though she had already guessed the answer.

She felt that the work Akira was writing looked far better than the books she usually saw in bookstores.

After all, whether it was the Bunny Girl Senpai in the story or the playful male protagonist, both were compelling.

"Yes, I plan to submit it."

Akira hesitated. "I need a way to earn money. Since I'm still a student, after thinking it through, writing light novels seems more convenient for me."

Sajuna nodded in agreement.

The atmosphere in the living room grew quiet.

Akira looked at her and slowly reached out his hand.

"Sajuna."

"Hmm?"

"I'm sorry."

"Ah? Why are you apologizing?"

"Because I have so many things I want to say to you, but I can't say them. So I want you to forgive me."

Sajuna's cheeks softened into a smile, and their clasped hands warmed a little more.

"I... I also have a lot I want to say to Aki-kun."

She leaned gently on his shoulder, her voice emotional.

"It really feels like a dream."

They had only known each other for a short time, yet they had already become lovers.

Even in a fast-paced romance anime, this would be quite surprising.

Aki-kun felt like an angel sent from heaven to accompany her, doing everything so perfectly.

"It truly feels like a dream," Akira replied.

The two leaned against each other, feeling each other's warmth.

"Sajuna."

"Hmm?"

"Can I kiss you?"

Sajuna's body trembled slightly. Then she turned her head and said, "No, you can't, because I want to kiss Aki-kun."

She leaned in and gently kissed his cheek.

After the kiss, Sajuna rested her head on his shoulder again, looking down without speaking.

"Is Sajuna shy?"

"No."

"But you were the one who initiated the kiss."

"Does that mean I can't be shy?"

Sajuna protested.

"Darn it."

"Why is the atmosphere always like this when I'm with Aki-kun?"

"It's making me almost lose control."

She gave herself a silent pep talk.

"Yes, it's all Aki-kun's fault for being too charming."

Her purple eyes sparkled as she looked at him. She could not help leaning in for another kiss.

"Is Sajuna being a hooligan?"

Akira's eyes curved in amusement.

"Kissing your own boyfriend is not being a hooligan."

Sajuna said it with conviction. Since she had already encouraged herself once, her courage lingered for a moment.

"Then I'm going to retaliate."

Akira said this as he looked at Sajuna with a smile in his eyes.

"She's starting to be affectionate with me on her own."

He felt that his plan to help Sajuna get used to his touch had advanced another big step.

"Victory feels close now."

Akira thought this and grabbed both of her hands.

Seeing Sajuna's flushed face and gentle struggles, he could not help but grin mischievously.

"I'm going to get back at you for everything Sajuna just did."
