Aurora's pov
I looked at my image in the mirror for the hundredth time since I got dressed for the lunch date. I was wearing a blue tank top that was knitted in the front and a dark blue high waist jean and to match it off, a blue and white striped sneakers. I tied my natural hair with a white head scarf and did my edges. I wore no makeup, just a little lip gloss and an infinity necklace.
"I look like a high school girl" i pouted at myself in the mirror "gosh I've never been to a date...well except with David"
I suddenly felt guilty as I stared at the ring David gave me.
"It's just a lunch right? It's not a romantic date or something" i argued with myself
An image of David smiling at me flashed across my mind, it was like he was right behind me saying
"I love you and I want you to be happy"
"I love you too babe, i miss you so much" i kissed the ring "it's just lunch, i can't love anyone else except for you"
I looked at myself again in the mirror and adjusted my tank top. Okay let's get this over with. I took a deep breath and gently walked out my room heading to the living room, i mistakenly bumped into Mirabel who was just coming out of her room
"I'm so sorry..."
"Woah girl, where are you going looking so hot?" She smiled interrupting me
"Um" this is so embarrassing " ummmm I'm going to visit my boyfriend's family" i lied
I really don't want Mirabel to poke her nose in my business
"Mhmmm" she smirked not buying it "i thought you said they moved out of the country"
"I did?" I don't remember telling her that
"You didn't tell me directly, i heard you calling someone called Esther on the phone and the way you called her mom i figured she was David's mom. She said something about America being cold and all" she explained
Oh yeah, i remember calling Esther in front of her once. Gosh Mirabel is so nosey
"So where exactly are you going?" She leaned closer smiling
"Non of your beeswax" i snapped
"Easy princess, I'm still your elder don't forget that" she frowned
"Fine I'm going to lunch with Aron" i said bending my face
She smiled even wider and squealed like a baby, this woman will not kill me
"I knew it, i always thought you two were dating or something. By the way how did you meet him?"
"I don't really have time for questions and we're not dating. David is my one true love and I don't plan on changing that any time soon" i stated firmly
"Alright whatever you say. Just remember to have fun and stay safe okay?" She said and hugged me
"Thanks dear" i smiled hugging her back "please stay indoor, the oracle might be down for now but we still have the purple Lagoon looking for you"
She nodded
"I kept some money in the living room candy bowl, if you need anything just call Micheal or Anna"
"Thanks Aurora, you've been taking care of me more than my stupid son ever did. I really appreciate it, any man will be lucky to call you his"
I just smiled and headed to the living room.
"Hey" i tapped Aron who was facing the window with a picnic basket 🧺 in head
He turned towards me and froze for a moment, i froze too. He was looking really different, not the normal rough looking Aron. He was wearing a black baggy ripped Jean, a white shirt and a black jacket to match, he had white sneakers to match. His braids looked brand new and his grey eye shone brighter when he finally smiled at me.
"You look great" i said before I could stop myself "sorry i mean you look really um good...that sounded weird"
Ground please open up and swallow me
"Haha" he chuckled "you look beautiful too"
"Thanks" i uncomfortablely tucked a short curl behind my ear
"Blue looks good on you, you should wear it more often" he said as he came closer
"Well thanks, it's actually my favourite colour" i smiled
"Nice. Well we better start going, it's already late" he said checking the clock
"True, wait will you be driving or me?"
I suddenly realised that someone needed to drive and it'd be somehow if I drove us
"I'll be driving, if that's ok with you. It's your car after all" he said rubbing his neck nervously
I hate bruising a man's ego and I didn't want to make him feel less of himself just because he doesn't have a car so I quickly said
"My dad's car not mine. You can drive, I'm too giddy and nervous to drive anyways" i smiled
"Kk. Nervous about going out with me" he smirked as we walked towards the door
I laughed and nodded "it's not everyday that a hot guy takes me out, you know"
"I see. What about David" he smiled
He opened the door for me and I walked out with him following behind
"My boyfriend Will always be the hottest guy on earth for me, but c'mon this is reality and I'm not blind. We both know you're freaking hot" i said sincerely
"I see. I didn't even know i was that hot" he smiled as he took the car key from the key holder in the garage
"Then you're definitely blind"
We both chuckled
He opened the car door for me and I climbed in
"Thank you" i smiled
"Just being a gentleman" he winked and I just laughed
He entered into the car and started the engine. Soon we drove off heading to God knows where
"Um where exactly are we going?" I asked as I looked at him
"It's a surprise" he smiled focusing on the road
"A surprise, hope you're not planning on kidnapping me and holding me for ransom" i joked
"Oh gosh" he laughed "you're too suspicious"
"Just being cautious, last time someone planned on surprising me i ended up in the hospital" i said remembering the first day the purple Lagoon attacked
"Trust me, I'm not going to sell you. Though I've been harbouring this thought of running away with you" he said and gave me a quick glance
I just kept quiet as I blushed. This guy is getting too cocky
"I trust you" i whispered and finally kept quiet as a warm feeling enveloped me
We both kept quiet as he continued driving, the evening sky was out and the sun was beginning to go down. The sky was tinted with purple, yellow and pink clouds, birds were flying back to their homes and Lagos looked calm for a moment. It was like the Earth was breathing peace on Lagos city and shielding her from the threats of the purple Lagoon, i relaxed into my seat and just watched the beautiful twilight.
"I guess it's no longer a lunch date" Aron's deep voice said
I smiled "i guess, it's already evening"
"Music?"
I smiled at him and nodded
He turned on the radio, constellation by Jade LeMac was playing. A warm smile creaked up my face as I nodded to the lyrics
"I don't really like the song but I'm guessing you do" he said
I hit him playfully
"Hey easy I'm driving" he chuckled
"Whatever, how can you not like this beautiful masterpiece??" I looked at him like he was crazy
"I'm not really into blues and pop songs. I love rap songs and rock songs"
"Figured, you're totally giving me the gangster vibes. Hope you're not a vampire? This one you like rock music"
He burst out laughing "and who said rock music is for vampires?"
"Me! I just don't get rock songs especially those heavy rock songs. All i hear are people screaming gibberish, like they're yelling for help or something" i said
"Well they're just expressing their feelings" he said
"By unleashing demonic lyrics on poor souls?" I was being judgemental right now but I seriously don't get rock songs even though my favourite Nickelodeon show as a kid was "SCHOOL OF ROCK"
"Sometimes that's just the best way for them to escape from the demons in their heads, we all have demons haunting us and we just seek for a way to tune them off" he said sadly
I just kept quiet
"Not everyone has life easy you know" he said not looking at me
"I'm sorry" i said looking at his tattoos
"It's fine. Different opinions is what makes the world a better place, rock, afropop, blue and so on. We just have a way of escaping differently through music and i understand" he smiled
I smiled back and then continued looking out of the window.
Deep
This guy is just too deep, don't drown in his deep sea Aurora. I just nodded and continued wondering where he was taking me, this guy is full of surprises
